Some purchasing hits and some misses – here is my Amazon (and life) update for August.
Shoe Rack
Less than one year ago I was touting the great shoe rack find from Amazon that would help me keep shoes in the garage and out of the house.
Well. Fast Forward just a few months and things started going haywire.
First the legs broke off. I still loved the rack and loved where it was so we put landscape pavers under it to hold it up.
Then. One of the side poles broke.
Then. The material on the top tore and wouldn’t hold that row of shoes.
I’m a tenacious person, but I gave up.
Hub found a beautiful new bench at Costco. You can see from the pic of the box it’s really more like a piece of furniture for a mudroom and isn’t meant to hold dozens of shoes. The top is a bench so that you can sit as you put on your shoes. Not us! We are stacking our shoes on that puppy.
Our mudroom holds a washer, dryer, freezer and litter box. No room for shoes. Or actual mud.
Hub assembled the new one and then switched them out. I’m going to have to work on it, but for now we have a place for some of our shoes and it is sturdy.
So, as much as I loved that Amazon purchase, it didn’t work out.
Sleeping Headphones
This is in no way good sleeping hygiene and I’m not making any recommendations based on such, but sleeping is not one of my super powers.
To make rest easier, I listen to audiobooks or podcasts during the night. Earbuds or flashing Bluetooth indicators add to the problem.
A few years ago I came upon sleeping headphones. They are soft on the ears and don’t flash all night.
But. They don’t really last long. I just purchased my third pair.
I don’t care. They are worth it!
Rubbermaid Storage Containers
When I take the time to prep our produce right away and seal it up in our nifty Rubbermaid containers, they stay fresh forever. It’s so handy to eat fresh, nutritious food when it’s ready-to-eat.
I ended up purchasing two sets of these and we use them every. Single. Day. Highly recommend!
Exercise Pants
My dear Sollangy (instructor extraordinaire) purchased a pair of the Colorfulkoala exercise pants I recommended. You can see from her pic what great shape she’s in and how these pants make her look so good.
These pants get almost perfect reviews. I’ve had mine all year and they are still like new.
Another recommend!
Life Update
We’ve felt so blessed spending time with loved ones and spending time on the road. But it can be exhausting.
We are also blessed that our son Ryan stays at our home and keeps an eye on the fort. But then I come home to a house that needs cleaning and a patio that needs blowing and laundry that needs washing and a fridge that needs to be restocked.
I guess that sounds like complaining. It’s just that as good as travel is, coming home is good too. And now I need a vacation from our vacation.
Too much time in the car and not enough time out moving our muscles has taken its toll too. Getting back into the swing of things feels good!
I’m looking forward to a week of routine and movement and rest. A balance!
And praying your week looks like that too.
