Our dear friends and neighbors, Gary and Suzanne, hosted their granddaughter’s third birthday celebration at their house.
And boy, did they pull out all the stops to give her the Mickey Mouse birthday party of her dreams!
The Set Up
Daisy and her parents live out of town, so Grandma and Grandpa had the house all to themselves for set up.
But they had a hard deadline: everything had to be decorated and ready by the time the guests arrived from Sky Harbor.
So, they got out the ladders, compressor and even the back-support belts and got to work!
I snuck in and took a few pictures while they were setting everything up.
As I walked into the entry, I was greeted by a balloon arch Gary had affixed to the 12-foot ceilings. They had also built an arch over the kitchen bar and used the remainder of the balloons throughout the area.
They transformed their family room into a kid-friendly space with toys and a place for Daisy to play while still being part of the family.
And I thought that was such a great idea. The adults could visit while Daisy had her own little space to play.
Mickey Mouse Birthday Décor
In addition to all the balloons, a personalized birthday banner hung below the television.
And speaking of the TV, Mickey cartoons were streaming during the party.
So cute!
Daisy’s mama, Kayla, brought pictures of special moments from three-year-old Daisy’s life. She hung them on a string and created a sweet photo banner in the kitchen.
She took me through each picture, and while I enjoyed seeing them for the first time, it was obvious Kayla was living those good times all over again.
Pro Tip: Enjoy those moments now, because time goes by faster than you think it possibly can!
All the guests received a version of mouse ears, with Daisy’s featuring a pink polka-dot bow.
Of course, the birthday girl needed to stand out!
The Mickey Mouse Birthday Table
Grandma loves her silver, so a proper set of silverware graced the Mickey Mouse tablecloth.
Mickey-ear napkin rings, a red napkin set upon a white plate and personalized name cards made this family affair feel really special—for the adults and for Daisy!
I loved how they mixed the playful Mickey Mouse theme with some of Grandma’s more traditional pieces.
It made the table feel festive without everything having to match.

Kayla put together a gorgeous charcuterie board for appetizers.
There was something for everybody, and the presentation was perfect.
Grandpa fired up the grill for delicious hamburgers and hot dogs, while Grandma ordered the cutest Mickey Mouse birthday cake with yellow frosting—at Daisy’s request, of course!
And then came one of my favorite details.
Suzanne’s son, daughter-in-law and newest granddaughter live in Miami. But there was no need for them to miss out on the birthday song!
They were videoed in via a tablet set up near the cake and sang along with everyone else.
I thought that was such a sweet way to include family who couldn’t be there in person.
A Birthday to Remember
Of course, Gary and Suzanne went way over the top on this party.
But that’s what they love to do!

It’s about grandparents going all out for a granddaughter, a mom remembering her daughter’s first three years, and family members joining from both Phoenix and across the country.
It’s about making memories with the people you love.
