Mini Organizing

Getting motivated to do some major organizing has been surprisingly difficult.  As in it hasn’t happened.

So this week, I took little time pockets to do mini organizing.  I got some areas under control and found things I didn’t need (or had totally forgotten about) and made some donations.

Oh, yeah, and used the trash can a bit too.

AM Energy

My energy spurts in the morning.  By around 3:00 I’m ready for the sofa.  So to take advantage of my AM energy, I budgeted ½ hour or less for a project before heading out to exercise or whatever my day’s activity was.

It’s amazing how much you can accomplish in 30 minutes!

Day One I tackled the cabinets in the bar where we keep our extra beverages and a few rarely used bar items.

If you’ve been following me for a while, you’ll know this isn’t the first time I’ve worked on this area.  Like everything in my house, it’s a work in progress.

I emptied everything out of both cupboards, cleaned the insides and outside with lovely smelling Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day, wrangled the drinks into the fridge where they fit and was able to get everything into one side.

Ahhhhh.

Morning Two’s project was the cat cabinet.  We have a small cabinet in our kitchen next to the food mat (which is fantastic, btw) where we store all things cats.  Treats, dry food, wet food cans, grooming items.

There were three pairs of nail clippers in there.  As if I kept trying them, they didn’t work, so I would get another pair?  I don’t know.  I have little nail scissors I use that work best, so all those clippers went in the trash.

Besides a tiny bit of tidying up, I mainly needed to get spilled kibble out and give everything a good wipe down.

The third mini organizing project was the TV console in the family room.  The storage cabinets are handy, but the glass doors means everything needs to be tidy or it stares out at me.

There are several pretty baskets where I was storing some items for donation and a few home décor items.  I wrapped everything up, boxed it and took it to Rusty’s where it will all find a new home and benefit senior pups.

Now to address those baskets.  They are pretty and baskets come in handy, but now that I’m decluttering my life, do I really need them?  Again, I cleaned out the cabinet and replaced the empty baskets, but I’m pondering donating those too.

Wrap Up

I hope this helps motivate you if you’re looking at any overwhelming projects right now.  My brain cannot handle anything too big but I love getting something accomplished.  So for now, mini organizing projects it is!

Have a wonderful week ahead and thanks for being here with me.
