Grab a Buddy

Thanks if you’re joining me for the December Fit Challenge. We’re really counting down now! If you need a little more motivation, grab a buddy and let’s go.

Walking, biking or working out is more fun and may hold you more accountable when you do it with a buddy.

A buddy can be your spouse, your pet, actual friends, or sometimes, a good audio book.

Workout Date

Hub and I frequently walk together and it’s a time to catch up with each other, or just enjoy the outdoors and listen to our personal headphones.

Either way, it’s nice to motivate each other.

Setting a time to get together with a friend to walk and chat makes the time go by in a flash and keeps us out of the coffeeshop (or wine bar) 😉. Sometimes the walk ends at the coffeeshop and that’s okay too!

I walk so frequently that friends are comforted knowing I will direct them to every water fountain and bathroom along the way.

Walk a Dog

You might remember last year, we were walking our neighbor’s dog, Teddy. We still love him and occasionally see him for a little visit. Turns out my knee is no longer good for large dog walking. Dang.

Take a Group Exercise Class

Attending regular classes is so rewarding for me because I get to know the wonderful people who do the same and I look forward to seeing them.

You already know adorable Sol and here’s adorable Leslie after we attended Sol’s barre and cardio blast classes. I’m the one who looks pooped. They look just fine.

Enjoy a Book or Podcast or Music

Full disclosure, I had two workout dates planned recently that fell through because of illness. Not mine, but I’m praying for health nonetheless.

No problem, I laced up my shoes and downloaded a book from the library. I’m listening to the Maltese Falcon and enjoying Sam Spade like crazy. Turns out he’s nothing like Humphrey Bogart.

If you want a humorous recommendation, the Stephanie Plum series is a hoot and makes the exercise even better.

Wrap Up

Please let me know how you’re doing with your self-care and have a great day!
