September 2023 Potpourri

I literally typed August and had to edit to September.  Because just like that [SNAP!] August is over and a new season is about to start.  With just a little bit of this and that on my mind, here’s my September 2023 Potpourri report!

Have I told you lately how much I appreciate you and thank you for stopping by.  My morning coffee tastes better when I imagine having it with you.

Walmart

I have to tell you, it looks like Walmart has really stepped up their game with regards to quality and style.  I have been seeing tons of social media posts with the cutest clothes and shoes and home décor.

Well, not-so-great, we got a new toaster a few months ago – from Walmart – and it was horrible.  It was a name brand but didn’t work worth a bean.

I keep seeing the Drew Barrymore Beautiful line from Walmart and decided to try their new touchscreen (I know!) toaster.  It gets great reviews and all the matte finishes look gorgeous.  I don’t keep my toaster out, so the finish doesn’t really matter, but it is quite pretty.

I’ve had it a week and have a positive report for you.  I also love that there is a trend towards pretty colors and not just stainless finishes for the kitchen.

If you’re looking for any small appliance replacements, consider this line.

Anthem Storm

After getting skunked all summer for any monsoon rain relief, we got a big dumping of wind and rain in one fell swoop last week.

Just a couple miles away, no damage, but much of Anthem got substantial tree loss, leaks and house damage.

This tree used to be at a house the next block over. Not only is it completely blocking the road, you can see that its roots are taller than the roof next door.

I pray nobody got hurt!

Each year we take precautions and trim our trees way back and thin them out in preparation for the monsoons.  We were fortunate to have no damage.  Our hot tub stopped worked and hub had to replace the outlet.

The patio and windows were a mess.  We are just about back to normal here, but I have been praying for the families with damage and the little animals who lost their homes or their lives.

More Cleaning Up

It feels like I spend a lot of time tidying and cleaning up pet messes lately.  I had another opportunity to get out the Bissel Green Machine and it worked like a dream with just a touch of Dawn in the reservoir.

P.S. Just skip this picture if hairballs make you queasy. 😉

Exercise

In addition to looking like Workout Barbie, my adorable friend Cassandra is now a certified Zumba instructor.

And can I tell you a secret?  Zumba is not one of my super powers.  I don’t like to say, “I’m no good at Zumba.”  Because it’s like fishing for compliments.  “Oh, yes, you are!”  “Oh, you’re just here to have fun.”  Um.  No, I’m terrible.

But I love Cassandra and a morning starting with music and dancing cannot be all bad.   She taught a special Zumba Dance Party on Labor Day and it was so fun.

I took the tiniest of a handful of ibuprofen and I was good to go.

DF Cindy is back from her around-the-world trip and will be teaching this week and I look forward to taking her class this week too.

Exercise is so much better with a smile.

Wrap Up

I’ve got some reporting back to do on What I’m Reading and What I’m Eating, but that will have to wait for a later post.

In the meantime, I hope your summer wrapped up nicely and can’t wait to hear what is next on your agenda.

God bless you and yours for a wonderful week!
