Checking Out the Pottery Barn Outlet

Although it’s on the far side of town, we sometimes enjoy checking out the Pottery Barn Outlet and seeing if they have any deals worth the drive.

The Deals

Upon entering, there is a prominent sign clearly stating the day’s deals.  They change frequently and are not advertised, so the only way to know what might be a good deal is a store visit.

On the day we visited furniture and lighting was 50% off, 30% off inserts, 60% off clearance items and 40% off everything else.

I did not check every item by any means, but the price marked seems to be the highest list the item ever was.

For instance, this Hayes Tufted Dining Chair was marked $619.  With a 50% discount it comes to $310 if my math is right.

I checked the website and it doesn’t appear that exact color is still available, but looking apples to apples, a brand new chair is running $559 list.

Deals are final.  They do offer a delivery service, but if you can take the items home yourself, that is where the BIG savings are.

Pottery Barn’s shipping and delivery fees are really prohibitive in my opinion.

Selection

I cannot even describe how huge this store is and it’s deceiving from the entrance.  It goes on forever.

I think it’s safe to say that everything you would find in any of their catalogs is represented in this store.

The have huge selections of:

  • Lighting
  • Upholstered furniture
  • Dining chairs

Less plentiful:

  • Outdoor
  • Children’s
  • Linens
  • Artwork
  • Wooden furniture
  • Dishes and barware
  • Faux florals

Unexpected:

  • Bathroom Vanities

I’m pretty certain all sales are final, so if you’re spending up to several thousand dollars on an item, you might want it to be nearly perfect.  Most of the upholstered furniture is.  The wooden furniture is beat up and not even worth what Ross might charge.

Discontinued Product

I’m sure many of the items are returns, but most items are years out of date.  They may still be stylish but when they are charging $200 for an ice bucket they haven’t carried in five years, it’s hard to cough up even the half price.

PB Wrap Up

It’s no secret I am a fan of the PB look and it is fun visiting the store every so often.  I don’t think I’ve ever found a deal I couldn’t pass up though.

What I’m Eating

BLTs!  Sometimes the simplest things are the biggest treats.  Costco delivered big time on the ingredients for our simple “linner.”  The Boudin’s sourdough are sold in packages of two and the price is unbeatable.  Sourdough is SIBO approved.

The fully cooked bacon is a treat for sure, but when you factor in there is no fat to throw away, no mess in the kitchen and it’s done in no time at all, another unbeatable deal.

I cooked the bacon at 300° on the airfry mode for about four minutes.

The Campari tomatoes are reliably good – even all winter long.

The lettuce is out of our garden!

Unreal

Have you tried Unreal?  One (or two!) coconut chocolates a day keeps my sweet tooth satisfied with a lower-sugar option.

What I’m Reading

Back in the day I used to love John Irving.  I still quote out of The World According to Garp.  He recently came out with a new book.  Can I just ask one question?  What is an 80-year-old man doing writing a 1,000 page book?  Hmmmm?  That’s what I say!  I don’t have time to read it; how did he have time to write it.

After getting through many chapters and hardly making a dent, I put this on my “Did Not Finish” list and deleted it from the Kindle.

Just being honest here.

A new author for me, Tom Wood’s, The Killer is much more fun.  Okay, it is exactly like every other “semi-good-guy, yet-assassin” book I read.  I am addicted.  If this is your genre, pick it up.  Not as good as Orphan X, but it’ll get me through until the next one.

Many blessings on your Easter weekend if you celebrate!

  1. Wish we had a PB outlet to browse through . I just read a John Grisham, I think it was the trial. Used to love those. Not so much this one. Too many characters to keep track of.
And have not had a BLT for years 🙃

  2. Oooooo la la la LA! I had no idea that PB had an outlet here in AZ. Yay! Let me know next time you decide to go–perhaps we can make a shopping day out of it and go together =). I just love your home decor and faux plants, Corine! Secondly, I, too, just discovered Costco’s pre-cooked bacon and I’m soooooo in love! Thanks for the BLT reminder, too. I absolutely LOVE BLT’s + add an A for avocado, yummy! I think I shall try making it with Trader Joe’s cauliflower rounds as my bread. Great post, Corine ;).

  3. Still loving the Orphan X series. I’m in book 6, Out of the Dark.……. I had to wait on a library loan, and read another of Hurwitz’s books, Don’t Look Back. Maybe liked it better than Orphan X. Thanks for introducing a new author to me.

    1. I’m in withdrawal since I just finished the last book. Looking forward to the next and searching for something yummy in the meantime.
