Talbots Try On

The spring line is in at Talbots so I popped in this week to see a few things before they are completely off the shelves.   Here is my Talbots Try On for Spring 2023.

The pickings were slim already for many sizes and color selections so I’m happy I got to see what I was interested in.

First let me say the store was PACKED when I got there first thing in the morning.  Secondly, let me say that I was the youngest lady in there.

Since I find I rarely go anywhere dressed in something much more than my exercise clothes, I’m wondering why these ladies are so hot to trot to get the latest Talbots clothes.  Where are they going all day all dressed up?  Some of the ladies didn’t even have their hair properly combed.

Next time I go I’m going to take a poll but I wasn’t feeling very friendly on this day.

I hate that I shop “old lady” but here is why Talbots works for me:

  • Their quality is very consistent and the clothes last probably much longer than I need them to.
  • Online customer service is very good.  Store service varies so I tend to frequent one store over another.
  • Petite sizes are exactly the same as regular sizes rather than a nod to nursing home wear.
  • Preppy style.  I don’t mean to constantly live in the 1980s, and I don’t flip up my shirt collar, but give me stripes, polka dots, bright colors and cuffed jeans and I am happy.

A couple of snappy things to take me into the new season so I don’t feel like I’m wearing the same jeans or shorts and t-shirts I’ve worn for the past five years is what I’m after.

Here is what I found.

Jeans

Slim Jeans

My sister Monique called this week and asked what I thought of the lighter color jeans for ladies with thighs such as hers and mine.  I told her I thought they would be fine, but I pulled all the styles they had in the store in a light wash.

My store only had three styles in my size.  Online has many, many more.

Pink Smocked Tee and Relaxed Jean

I tried on:

  • Everyday Relaxed Jean.  They are super comfy.  Because they are, ummm, relaxed?  I hate tight material around my thighs so I tend to love this cut best.  The Fiji Wash is the light color I tried on.  Earlier this year I bought the darker wash in this style with the button front.  They are my favorite jean ever.
  • Slim Ankle Jeans in Monterey Wash fit just fine – much more comfortable than most skinny jeans feel on me.
  • Jeggings Laguna Wash sport the frayed hem that is in style and are a slimmer fit.  But oddly, they are not tight like most jeggings.  These are the ones I ended up purchasing.
Green Smocked Tee and Jegging

Tees

The new Smocked V-Neck Tee is what initially sent me to Talbots for a new treat this year.  The sleeves hit right above the elbows and are smocked to stay put.  They strike me as being cool and comfy for summer and will hide my problem arms.

I purchased the pink stripe and pretty green.  Some of the other colors seemed equally striking but the store was already out in my size.

Sweater

Spring sweaters are not something I would normally spend money on since we tend to go straight from winter to summer.

But then.  This gorgeous, soft, striped, preppy V-Neck sweater wanted me to try it on.  I didn’t succumb, but if I were going somewhere with a true spring I would certainly need it!

Winter Friends

DF Chris and I spoke this week and she is struggling with a lot of snow shoveling in Reno.  Ugh.  They are ready for winter to be over already.

But she has some adorable furry friends to keep her cheerful.

Mia is her beautiful kitty keeping her company while working on her iPad.

Split Ear is the runt in a squirrel family who visits daily for the buffet Chris puts out.  She has a little split in one of her ears.

You can see her sibling is not shy when the dinner bell rings!

Wrap Up

Do you have big plans on the horizon for the weekend?  I’m not sure what we have going on.  Last weekend we went to a spring training game – the Arizona Diamondbacks versus the Colorado Rockies.  It was an alum event for my university and was a fun afternoon.  The stadium was packed and I could see all the out-of-state Coloradoans soaking up the sun.

  1. C- I just bought a t shirt in that happy green color. I wish I had thought to get something with a little sleeve interest. I usually don’t do puffy by but seeing on my twin, I now think I could wear that style!
    You look great! Cheers!
