Talbots 2023 Holiday Try On

I haven’t entered a store in ages, and I’m trying to get into the holiday spirit of things, so let’s do a Talbots 2023 Holiday Try On and see what they have.

Decorating for Christmas one minute before Thanksgiving is over is just wrong.  Unless, of course, you’re already decorated with a beautiful tree and all.  If that’s the case, it is perfectly fine.

Just not in this house.

But.  Clothes?  Maybe you have something special coming up for Thanksgiving.  Or a couple of concerts or plays to attend.  Maybe a nice date night.

It really is not too early to start thinking of a cute holiday outfit.  Especially if you need to order it.  Or find shoes to go with it.

So here we go – a visit to Talbots.

Well, apparently I am the only small person in the Phoenix area who has not been in the mood to shop for winter.  Because!  There were lots of items not available in my size at Talbots. I tried to put a few fancy outfits together and it was actually hard. Luckily, I have no pressing need for a nice outfit!

Dresses

There were two dresses in my size.  The really colorful Satin Fit & Flare dress is on the cover of the catalogs and makes quite an impression.  It might be pretty on someone around 6 feet tall, but oh, my.  It really didn’t suit me at all.

Then came the LBD.  Everyone needs a little black dress in their closet.  As I age, dresses cannot be so “little” and need to cover a few areas nobody wants to see.  But still, dresses marketed to my age are not really anything I would wear.

Oh, but this one.  I channeled Audrey Hepburn and wished I had some perfect heels and some sparkly earrings.  Oh, and maybe an actual hairdo instead of the gym pony I was still sporting. The Velour Fit & Flare Dress is right up my alley.

Perfect length, perfect sleeves, perfect neckline and then the back.  In love.

Now, I had no intention of purchasing this dress because I have an LBD in my closet from last year that never got worn.  But if you need one, I highly recommend this!

Fancy Pants

Vanilla jeans with sparkles down the side, blue jeans with sparkles at the ankles and palazzo pants with sparkles everywhere.  I tried them all.

The sparkly wide leg pants and smocked top were a cute pairing and ultra comfy. Like for wearing to Thanksgiving dinner and nobody notices the pumpkin pie belly.

The straight ankle red pop slacks fit like a glove and were so flattering.

If fancy pants are more your style than a dress, Talbots has you covered.  But the tops to go with them were not so impressive and um.  Not many sizes.

Tops

The reindeer sweater is adorable but I didn’t feel it was all that complimentary on me.  I would have considered it if it would have fit better.

The red cashmere V-neck sweater is pretty, but again, not head turning.

The sequin shell is lined and super comfy. I paired it with the sequin natural colored jeans.

Wrap Up

Thanks for shopping with me this week! Has Christmas entered your thoughts yet? Any events coming up you might want to shop for?

I’m going to come clean here and admit I did purchase something on this trip. Nothing fancy though. A pair of boot-cut black jeans – which I don’t already own. And a pair of relaxed jeans. Which I own a lot of but NEED.

If you’ve found something cute, let us know! I’m off now, looking for a pair of boots to go with these jeans. XO

  1. I think you look great in all of that stuff. Isn’t it nice to get pants at the correct length. Loved the sequin top in BLUE! Yesterday I bought a sequin blouse in green, thinking it would be good for the season. Maybe I’ll get ambitious and send a pic, the jury is still out on it.
