September Wrap Up

Everyone around here is certainly looking forward to October – better weather and more activities.Ā  But September wrapped up nicely.Ā

Here are a few of the blessings I’m counting this week.

Health Care Professionals

Remember that super-duper knee brace I showed you recently?Ā  It has been working out great for me, but I needed an adjustment on it that I couldnā€™t manage myself.

Ashley to the rescue. She is the Medical Assistant at my neurosurgeonā€™s practice.Ā  And is such a sweetie.Ā She got me in quickly and helped me avoid driving in rush hour traffic. We had some good laughs and got my brace back on track lickety-split.

You can tell she’s a sweet spirit just from this picture.

This very handsome man with a stethoscope?  Thatā€™s my beloved nephew, Drew.  He works in Fort Collins, Colorado.

We got a nice visit with him during our Colorado road trip in August.

Over the years you’ve heard so much about our DFs Barb and Stu. They had the privilege of seeing their daughter Kate wed her long-time beau Ethan this weekend.

This isn’t the most flattering picture of the gorgeous bride and her stunning gown, but I thought you might like to see the Sedona background. What a wonderful place to be married.

Many blessings on your family, dear friends!

For several years I worked in the OR for the large hospital in Reno and I wore scrubs at work.Ā  Although I was not a nurse, I was routinely mistaken for one and had to correct people when I was asked for assistance.

Visiting a healthcare facility is overwhelming for both visitors and patients.Ā  Finding parking and then negotiating a warren of hallways is bad enough. Thow in stress, pain or illness and it just becomes unmanageable.

It was my pleasure to make sure the loved ones of my friends were well attended when they had the need to visit the hospital.

No matter how many spreadsheets I did in a day, I always knew my real job was lighting the path for whomever crossed mine.

My hope is that some days the smile I offered was enough to ease someoneā€™s day when they had occasion to be at the hospital.

DF Chrisā€™s dad always told her I was his favorite nurse.Ā  Even though I kept telling him I wasnā€™t a nurse.Ā  Ha! He didn’t care! I still get such a warm feeling thinking about him.

Sneakers

Speaking of DF Chris, she said she was inspired to shop for new sneakers and found these cutie pies at DSW by Dr Schollā€™s.

Connie, I checked for you and they have the length you need in a couple of pairs, but not the narrow width.  Sorry!  I am always keeping my eyes peeled though.

What Iā€™m Eating

I know Iā€™ve shared Trader Joeā€™s frozen falafel before and I want to remind you why I love them so much.Ā  Paired with a warm piece of tandoori naan (also from Trader Joeā€™s) and a side of homemade tzatziki made one of my favorite meals this week.Ā

I completely omitted the garlic from the tzatziki this time.Ā  I know that wouldnā€™t be great for most people but it was still delicious and I tolerated it much better.

What Iā€™m Reading

On audio I finished Christopher Reichā€™s second Simon Riske thriller, Crown Jewel.Ā  Riske is a bit different from the usual violent semi-sociopath heroes I like.Ā  Heā€™s not a shoot-ā€˜em-up guy.Ā  Heā€™s a car guy.Ā  Just a different twist and the books are well written and the narrator was quite good handling a number of European and American accents.

This is a recommend if you like thrillers.

Wrap Up

The past couple weeks have been busy with chores and errands.Ā  Snooze. It was fun letting my friends and loved ones take over photo duty this week though!

Next post Iā€™ll have a few new things to share and show that I really am immersing myself in autumn.

God bless you and yours this week and thank you for joining me.

  1. Corine, so sweet to mention dad in this post. You were so kind to him when in the hospital, and yes he always called you his favorite nurse. šŸ„° PS, love my new tennis shoes. So comfy!
