It’s been quite a while since I’ve chatted about this and that, so grab a cup o’ joe and let’s catch up, shall we?
What I’m Doing
It seems as if I’ve lived in a whirlwind lately, but so much good going on!
Celebrating birthdays is just the best. At the end of August, Evon and I met with Denisse for a lovely birthday lunch and had so much fun!

Barb’s birthday is in September so we had the chance to go to our local hangout for a casual dinner and lots of laughs.

Dear friends Kevin and Cindy renewed their wedding vows and we were fortunate enough to have been invited to the “wedding.” What an inspiration they are.
The vows were short and sweet and brought a tear to many an eye (I’m not crying!).

It was so adorable that they had kept the topper from their 1975 wedding cake and used it again for this cake.

Cindy, Sara, Evon and I have been quite the posse for more years than I want to count. They are such a blessing in my life. I just loved being together this night because we don’t see each other enough.
Cindy’s beautiful mom, Joan joined us for this picture.

My favorite mode of cardio exercise is still rebounding. What a great purchase. It wouldn’t surprise me if I’ll need a new one soon. I’m wearing this one out.
Hub and I have done a few cute, smaller puzzles and I love to snap a pic when we’re done.

Spending time “up the hill” as I call anything higher than 4,000′ in Arizona has made for a lovely summer. Sedona feels like our favorite getaway lately.
However! We have had some surprising rain, clouds and mild weather for September. The picture at the top is from the club here in Anthem.
What I’m Reading
In print I’m re-reading some Orphan X books and finished #13 in the Gray Man series by Mark Greaney. The Chaos Agent has 4.47 stars on the Goodreads rating page, but I’m rating it a little lower. Plus it’s about AI and I’m sort of done with AI.
On audio, I listened to James by Percival Everett. This book is also very highly rated and I also give it a so-so rating.
It’s a “re-imagining” of The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn and I had very high hopes. The story had its ups and downs, but mostly it left me depressed.
Cold Silence by James Abel was a shoo-in for me 100% based on Ray Porter’s narration. I’m giving this one three stars and skipping the others in the series.
Joe Rush, the main character, is flat and unlikable. Moving on.
The High Mountains of Portugal by Yann Martel was again chosen because of the excellent narrator, Mark Bramhall. I have no idea what this book is really about or why I bothered to finish it.
Captivated by Jeffery Deaver is number 1/2 in the Colton Shaw series. Which I love. And which I cannot wait for more in the series to become available from the library. Read this series! Or in my case, listen. Kaleo Griffith narrates.
What I’m Eating
From Costco, I got a large bag of Super Greens which I’ve found to be a great way to get in my veggies without overloading my system.
The taste isn’t the best, but using the frother and adding a squeeze of lemon makes it very doable.

I hope you’re not sick of hearing about sourdough. Because I have a little more info to share.
I have been faithfully baking bread for my larder using the Ultimate Food Geek’s recipe.
But.
Well.
I just felt it was a little too dense. I’m not sure what was going on. I hated to change the recipe because it is so easy. No fuss whatsoever.
Then I went on the hunt for another easy recipe and I found one! It has only two additional steps and has resulted in a lighter, airier loaf.

I guess it must be good because on their recent visit Frank and Vaneica loved it and even took a loaf home!
Overnight Sourdough Bread from The Feathered Nester is a winner and what I’m eating now!
Anthem Health & Wellness Club
September 24th begins the club’s new season and the first event features Andrea DeFabritis from VJuv.
You might remember I did a recent post about the pain management treatments were are getting from Andrea.

I’m excited to see her talk and see how she might be able to assist other members of the club!
As always, the meeting is no charge, but registration is requested. It will be held at noon on Wednesday, September 24th at the Anthem Civic Center.
See you there!
Wrap Up
As always, thank you for reading my blog and sharing my journey.
May God richly bless you and yours.
