Fall Purchases

Here are a few fall purchases I’ve made recently. I’ve had time to consider them all and today I’m giving my recommendations.

Trader Joe’s Gluten Free Tagliatelle Pasta

Well, that’s a mouthful, isn’t it?  (Pun intended.). Let’s just call this “noodles,” shall we?
Finding gluten-free egg noodles has proved pretty expensive and not that great in terms of taste and texture.

Now, hub has been very satisfied with other GF noodle selections, such as spaghetti.  But chicken noodle soup is pretty important in our menu rotation and the GF egg noodles have been meh.

But.  The other day while at Trader’s I snagged these lovely pasta nests and guess what?  Delish and totally perfect in soup.

Oh.  Except one thing.  They are the longest noodles in the world and if you don’t break them before cooking, you’ll be slurping them along with your broth.

Candle Warming Lamp

Summer is not the time to burn candles in our house.  Long days and ceiling fans are not conducive to a good candle experience.  However, now we have darker evenings. That, and a mild breeze through an open window just calls out to me to light a candle.

And while I like lighting a candle, it can be risky for people my age. Like going to bed or leaving the house forgetting a candle is lit. I mean, one more thing to worry about, right?

So, time to take a look at this solution.  A candle warming lamp!

First of all, it’s so pretty.  Like a little table lamp with a beautiful shade.  Second, a timer.  Yay!  Third, no flame.

The lamp has found a home in my beverage station.  I turn it on for two hours and it’s the perfect amount of light in the early morning while something tasty is brewing.

Not all candles are fragrant while they melt for an entire two hours, but my very favorite candles, the Boulangerie Angel Food from Anthropologie, smell good for as long as the lamp is lit.

While these lamps are available everywhere online, I purchased mine from Walmart.

Wireless Table Lamp

Since one person in our home wakes up substantially earlier than the other, and since the light in the bathroom is really about 8 ceiling can lights that begin in the hallway, we have a logistical problem.

Either that person in bed gets blasted with bright light or that early bird can’t see what she’s doing in the bathroom trying to make her way into the kitchen (and the beverage station).

Battery-operated, wireless table lamps have been getting a lot of exposure on social media and I thought a little cordless lamp on my vanity would be perfect to solve my logistical problem.

This gorgeous lamp comes in a number of finishes and the rose gold is so pretty.  It has three levels of brightness and is turned on with a tap.

It has an outlet to charge devices at the base.

But.  Hmm, it clearly has a cord.  And is not battery operated.  Or wireless.  So, there you go.  I think there was an error on the Amazon posting, but it’s pretty and it works fine in the space, so I’m keeping it.

If you want a bougie little lamp, I recommend.  If you’re looking for a battery-operated lamp, skip.

Jute Rug

After converting hub’s office to his man cave, I felt the rug was too small and too busy.  From Rugs, USA, I found this jute rug and it’s so pretty and soft and comfy.  It’s just the right amount of natural without being boring.  It’s a better size for the room too.

I don’t think I’ve ever purchased from Rugs, USA, but it was a good experience and I recommend!

Slow Cooker

In case you missed it, I gave a full review on my new slow cooker on Saturday’s post.

And along those lines, is anyone else queueing up all their favorite comfort foods now?  I’ve made chicken noodle soup, chicken pot pie and tortilla soup this week. I don’t think I’ve put all those favorites in a recipe format, so I’ll type up the pot pie and noodle soup this week and post. In case you’re in need of some comfort food too.

On a note about the chicken pot pie:  I’ve shared my recipe before, but I used a different homemade cream of chicken soup recipe to add this time.

From TheCozyCook.com I found this recipe and I highly recommend.  In no way would I consider this the most economical solution but it uses real ingredients you already have in your kitchen and it turned out great.

I used gluten-free flour, skipped celery salt and garlic salt and it was perfect in our comfort meal.

Wrap Up

I really did finish my audio book and a couple other books I want to briefly discuss, but I’ll save that for the next post.

In the meantime, if you’re celebrating Halloween tonight, and giving out candy, enjoy all the super heroes and princesses who ring your doorbell.

If you’re like us, you may not have kids on your block.  So we’ll turn off the lights and maybe find a good spooky movie.

Talk to you again in November!
