Here are a few things that aren’t terribly flashy, but they work for me. And they are easily purchased from Amazon. Who doesn’t want some Amazon finds that make life easier?
I am not an Amazon affiliate, but am linking for convenience.
Long-Handled Shoe Horn
Is she really writing about a shoe horn on her blog post? Really? Yep, she is.
Many years ago my sister (who is much younger, than I, BTW, so it’s not just an old-age thing) showed me the long-handled shoe horn she got from Ikea and keeps in her garage where she puts her shoes on and takes them off.
Brilliant, I said to myself. I need that!
The shoe horns mean I don’t have to sit, bend or smash down the heels to get any athletic shoes on. I really cannot image living without them now.
I purchased one at Ikea several years ago and LOVE it, but I wanted a couple others for the places I put on shoes and Ikea is pretty far from my house.
Amazon to the rescue. I now have long-handled shoe horns in my closet, the coat closet and the garage.
Which brings me to my next find.
Six-Tier Shelves
We purchased these shelves a year ago to use as shoe storage in our garage to hopefully keep some of the dirt out of our house.
The shelves were easy to assemble, are light weight, easy to clean and we use them every single day. I love that I’m not jamming athletic shoes in a cubby and can easily pick the correct shoe for my day’s activity.
You can see that John’s bigger shoes fit just fine. You can also tell from his smashed heels that he doesn’t use the shoe horn!
Kitty Crack
Well, you just knew there would have to be a cat reference on this post, right? No disappointment here.
Many kitties have delicate GI systems and sometimes go without eating and drinking. Which quickly leads to a disaster and a big vet bill.
Last year when Roxy was undergoing her annual IBS flare up, our vet told us to buy kitty crack from Amazon. Huh? She said it’s like crack to cats.
Inaba Churu cat treats are not cheap, but Roxy loves them so much, she screams for them (which is a touch annoying, if I’m to be honest).
If you have a cat that needs to eat, consider trying these.
You can see them here on the DogBuddy mat I bought to corral their fountain and food. Psst, don’t tell my cats it’s for dogs because they aren’t overly fond of dogs.
Ultrasonic Rodent Deterrent
Again, not a terribly sexy purchase, but one that works for us.
Our neighborhood has a big problem with ground squirrels and other burrowing critters that are quite cute, but quite destructive.
Solar Ultrasonic Spikes have been a great way to chase away the varmints without using poison or traps. They just make a tiny hum every few moments and it really keeps our yard free of unwanted visitors.
And by the way, if those cats were doing their jobs, we wouldn’t have rodents in our yard, right? Hmmpf.
Wrap Up
This post got a bit long-winded (as happens with me sometimes) so I’ll update you on my book finds and recipes next post.
Until then, God bless you and yours for a wonderful week ahead.
