For today’s December Fit Challenge, let’s move it outside! I know, it’s challenging getting outdoors in December. But there are so many benefits, it’s worth it.
Even here in Arizona, I’ve been wearing my cozy puffer jacket, headband and gloves for early morning walks to the gym. And I’m hoofing it. No lollygagging when it’s that cold.
But I’ve found if I’m getting into my cardio zone and I have the appropriate outer wear on, I can get out in almost any weather. Except wind. I hate working out in wind. That’s all wrong.
I will add that on our recent trip to Canyonlands National Park, we did some hiking on icy ground. That made me feel really insecure and I would NOT recommend that to anyone.
Be sure to feel safe and stable no matter where you’re catching a few minutes of exercise.
Holiday Decorations
Getting sunshine and fresh air really helps my brain when the days are so short. But really, the holiday decorations cheer me up.
At our park we are blessed with the Daisy Mountain Railroad. The train takes a 10-minute ride around the park and through a rock tunnel.
The train is decorated and called the Candy Cane Express right now. The tunnel is all lit up and so cute for little ones.
You will always find me stopped on the hill waving at the passengers as they go by. The waves and smiles make my day.
The adorable conductor posed for me. Which made me even happier.
