Just when you thought youād heard every stick vacuum review I could possibly write, I hit you with another one. We bought the Shark Pet Plus Cordless Stick Vacuum and here is my honest review.
Hereās the scoop. We LOVED our Dyson stick vacuum. But the dang battery doesnāt last long. Not as in it doesnāt hold a charge, as in it needs to be completely replaced. And itās about as expensive as buying a new vac.
So last July, as in less than one year ago, we purchased the Samsung Stick. Hub likes it but I donāt think it picks everything up well enough. Now, thatās not reason enough to replace it, but its head broke.
It seemed as if the repair part was going to be really expensive, so hub took a trip to Costco and picked up the new Shark Pet Plus.
It picks up better than the Samsung, it is lighter weight and it has a handy storage solution which doesnāt need to mount on the wall. The top comes off and sits on a hook at the base of the stick.
Which means there isnāt a storage place for the attachments. Which I donāt love. Oh, well.
Time will tell if we can keep this vacuum for more than a year. For now, this is a recommend.
And, by the way, via EBay, I found a Samsung replacement head for around $25 and when it finally gets here, Iāll let you how that works out.
Which means weāll have two stick vacs. Well, you really canāt have too many, can you?
What Iām Eating
Frequently (more than just on Meatless Monday) I make a meatless ātacoā salad. It generally consists of lettuce, tomato, refried beans, jalapenos, a sprinkling of grated cheddar and tortilla chips.
This is certainly not a special meal, but I wanted to post this week, because what made it so special? The lettuce! Our heirloom, organic seeds sprouted and the leaves were big enough to pick and young enough to be tasty and mild.
I know itās a tiny bit crazy posting a pic of lettuce, but Iām so proud and it was so delish. Thank you for indulging me.
I rinsed them several times, put them through the spinner twice and still needed to pick mesquite twigs out of them. Oh, well, small price to pay.
What Iām Reading
Okay, Iām bragging just a bit. I got to read my latest Dean Koontz Nameless book at the pool this week.
You may notice we had a few spring break visitors in our pool. Making noise. No problem, I found a noise cancelling Pandora station on my phone, used my earbuds and read to my heartās content. Gentle is the Angel of Death is another quick and satisfying read in the series.
In the book, Koontz references author Katherine Anne Porter (whom I suspect he was related to via marriage). My interest was piqued since I had not read her. Pale Horse, Pale Rider is a collection of three short stories and are they good! Short stories often leave me a bit cold since adequate character development isnāt strong. Not so here. Written in the 1930ās, set at the turn of the century and during the 1918 flu epidemic, the themes still speak to us a hundred years later.
On audio my 21-day loan on Midnight Sun ran out with just a couple hours to go. Which means I have to request it again and get back into queue to finish it. Ugh.
But the good news is that another Midnight Sun came up on my list. Written by one of my favorites, Jo Nesbo. Iām already loving the dark story set during the endless daylight of a Norway summer. Iām looking forward to walks with this book.
