The pet feeding and watering station recently moved from the laundry room to the kitchen. Which Iâll explain shortly. But the pet food storage situation was quite unattractive and needed some attention if it was going to remain in such a prominent space in the house.
Weâve had some litter box issues the past few months so we decided to minimize activities in the laundry room and take the food and treats out. Itâs too bad because the room is large and we had a nice cabinet built in specifically for pet supplies.
But. Like all good plans. Right? Things changed.
So I went on the hunt for a solution and came up with this small and cute two-door cabinet from Wayfair.
A note about Wayfair. They have really over-delivered on their service and I have nothing but good to say about them. I ordered this cabinet through Wayfairâs âopen boxâ option. When items are returned, Wayfair inspects them, ensures they are near perfect and then passes a discount to the customer through open box.
I have scored discounts on a few things via that route and have never had any problem whatsoever.
This cabinet came a day early and with all its parts and instructions. I think it was kind of a pain to put together, but at least John had assistance. đ
We decided on a style to coordinate between our kitchen furniture and the family room tables, and I think this cabinet achieved that look.
The little drawers have a wooden front but are made of fabric. Okay, âso what,â you say.Â
Well. Denisse gifted the girls with some kitty cookies in a baggie and I stored them perfectly in the drawer.
And then. Miss Fancy Pants apparently sniffed them out, opened the drawer, knocked down the basket of Easter eggs, tore open the baggie and helped herself. At 4 in the morning. Which is the best time for a lot of racket and a little snack, donât you agree?
The snacks are now in a sealed plastic bowl.
The magnets that hold the doors closed are not that robust so Iâm hoping she canât figure out how to open the handles.
That cat!
All in all, Iâm happy with our pet food storage solution and dressed it up with my new chicken art from Buc Ees and an Easter theme.

What Iâm Reading
Reading literally took a backseat on our recent road trip and I did NOT finish The Lincoln Highway by Amor Towles until this week. I know! Like many others, I eagerly awaited this book, enjoyed the initial dive in and then got stalled on our vacation. Dang it.
And now, what do I have to report? Iâm not really sure. I have terribly mixed feelings. No dialogue punctuation made it awkward to read and follow. Not sure what that decision on the part of Towles was about.
In the interest of no spoiler, I wonât give away the ending, but that was a little dissatisfying. Hmmm. Well, read it if you must, but my recommendation is guarded.
Happy to have a discussion about it if youâve read it though.
Wrap Up
Beautiful spring weather has meant out of control allergies around here, but other than that, life has been pretty good! Enjoying friends, catching up on reading and podcasts, some long walks and a visit to the pool has been just what the doctor ordered!
Enjoy your weekend and let me know what youâre up to. God bless.
