It feels funny using the word ābeautyā associated with my cosmetic and skin care routine, but I donāt know what else to call my latest purchases. After a trip to TJ Maxx and Ulta, I got a nice beauty haul to share with you.
Itās always good for me to stop by TJ Maxx before Ulta because on the off chance they have the cosmetics or face cream I need, the savings can be substantial.
The associates there are so nice, they will let me open bottles and test colors. Their premium brands are kept in a locked case and whoever the lady with the key is, tends to be super nice and helpful.
On this particular day, I had a very young woman help me with foundation and cream. She let me know the success her grandma has with Clinique. Iām not kidding!
And Iām not offended.
Iāve been using Clinique foundation for the past year and Maxx had the color I needed in a different liquid formulation so Iām trying it.
Itās funny that Clinique is back in vogue for young women today. I started using it while I was in college. Which was back in the 80s. Yep. Over 40 years ago. Yikes!
Then next door to Ulta.Ā Another fantastic sales person helped me with new blush (clinque again), new brushes, lip liner and facial treatment.Ā
Itās been a very long time since Iāve replenished cosmetics, so I had a long list. The sweet lady stayed with me and led me to her favorite brands.
She loves Nyx lip liners which are a budget brand.Ā We had to go through a lot of colors, but we found a good one to coordinate with the Fat Oil I had purchased from Amazon earlier this month.
Do you know about Fat Oil?Ā Itās a $9 dupe for the Dior Addict Lip Glow Oil. Ā Which costs $40.Ā I havenāt tried the Dior so I canāt speak to how great of a dupe the Nyx is, but I really like it.Ā Just a hint of color and a ton of shine.
Mediheal is some viral product that all 19 year olds are scooping up because they might have a line on their face. She talked me into getting two packages (buy one get one at 40% off ā how could I refuse?).
They are interesting and I actually like them. They are like gauze pads saturated with serum that you place on your face. Refreshing. I have no idea if they do anything, but I am liking them so far.
Way back in April of 2023, I purchased Red Carpet nail gel for the first time.Ā I have been using it ever since.Ā My nails are so thin and their Nail Perfecting Concealer is neutral, but lasts a long time and keeps my nails looking halfway decent.
To use this product, you have to have an LED light so it is not like just buying a bottle of polish. Ulta only had one bottle, so even though I didnāt really need it yet, I picked it up.
