Early Fall Décor at World Market

Summer is still in full gear here, but many retail stores have leapfrogged right to Christmas.  I took a look at the early fall décor at World Market this week and wanted to share their pretties with you.

Faux Flowers

The floral selection is kind of on the skimpy side, but they are carrying all the florals that are popular this season with Pottery Barn and Crate and Barrel at a fraction of the cost. 

The quality looks good and I’m going to try out the dahlias and pampas grass for sure.

Table Top

Dishes, glasses and linen are so, so pretty.  Of course, the traditional fall colors are available, but I thought the blue they are offering is really a nice change too.

If I had a kitchen as big as Martha Stewart’s I would buy glassware every time I go out.  These little numbers are just precious.

Natural Fiber Woodland Critters

I have several of these little critters for Christmas and when I saw the little pig and deer all dressed up for the Thanksgiving table, I couldn’t resist a pic.  So cute.  I didn’t buy them though.  Yet.

Italian

The display for Italian food and dishes is just gorgeous and so festive and cheerful.  I really need a second kitchen.

Home Projects

Nothing exciting to report around here.  Roxy must have been sick of the sheers hanging in my office, because she took her paws and brought down an entire side.  Hub removed the curtain rod, plugged the holes and I’m going with the naked-woven-wood-shade look for now.

John decided to tackle some of the incredible growth we have on shrubs after the monsoons we have had this summer.  With his chain saw.  In his flip flops.  I know.  But it is much tidier and all nine ten toes remain.

What I’m Reading

A couple of new authors in my fav thriller genre to report on. 

Let me also add right here, that if I want to gossip about hub or tell you a secret, super expensive gift I bought for him (and where I’m hiding it), I will drop that info in this section.  Because he openly admitted he doesn’t read about what I’m reading.

If he wrote a blog, I would certainly read all of it.  Hmmph.

Anyway, back to my new finds.

The Orphan X series by Gregg Hurwitz, plus everything else he has written, has been my latest obsession.  I know I mentioned this in an earlier post, but if you like kick-ass, flawed good guys, run to read these.

The Simon Riske series by Christopher Reich is new to me this week.  I read the first in the series, The Take and have every intention of reading the next in the series.  From what I gather, Reich’s previous books are even better.  Licking my chops.

Black Maps by Peter Spiegelman is my latest audio book selection and the first in the John March series.  The book got off to a bit of a slow start for me, but it picked up and I would recommend it.  Again, I understand from Goodreads reviews that some of Spiegelman’s other work is better.

Look Alive Twenty-Five is an old favorite Stephanie Plum novel by Janet Evanovich.  This series has been around literally for decades, but the characters don’t age (much as I have not) but I don’t mind and every once in a while it’s just darn good fun.  This was an audio selection and the narrator, Lorelei King, is excellent.

Wrap Up

Can’t wait to share some more recipes and books and purchases, but it will have to wait for another post.
