I feel like Iāve been bragging a bit about being so thrifty with my fall decorating budget. Iāve used my old dĆ©cor and Iāve shopped the house, virtually spending no money. Well, I didnāt want to be too pompous or righteous, so I sprung for a couple of small purchases.
Okay, thatās not really why I bought some new things. I just could not resist. Like what always happens when I open a catalog. Or when I think my front porch needs just a little more….
Well, I was still pretty thrifty and I want to share that with you.
I found the prettiest things at ā you wonāt believe it ā Walmart.com! I ordered a couple of fall floral lanterns and a pretty fall wreath.
And then.
I stopped into a thrift store.Ā The last time I went to a thrift store? So long ago I donāt remember. No reason why but I just never go.Ā Well, actually I donāt really go into any stores anymore.
But.
I had an appointment I was a few minutes early for and decided to pop into a thrift store next door which supports and employs the developmentally disabled (their words, not mine). Itās a small thrift store, but they have a beautiful selection of really nice fall items in really good shape. Like so nice I canāt see how they are even used.
I found this large and gorgeous wreath for $15! I had literally just placed an order for one through Walmart, but this one is huge and is a much better proportion for my giant front door so I scored the purchase of the year.
The people are so nice there and the store is so cute, I’ll be returning for Christmas decor, I am sure.
The Walmart wreath came two days later, also lovely, so I hung it inside from the entryway mirror and Iām happy as a clam.
New Court Shoes
As I have mentioned before, we are playing pickle ball every Sunday and I have been feeling the need for some court shoes rather than running shoes. I come from the part of the country where all athletic shoes are referred to ātennis shoes,ā but this time, I really needed tennis shoes.
The flatter sole and lateral support are more important at my age than ever before. I will do everything I can to avoid a fall or an accident while out playing. I have only purchased running shoes for about the past 20 years, so I went on the hunt for court shoes.
And guess what?
I bought a pair of Princess Reebok just like the pair I had in the 1980s when I was oh so fashionable. I wore them yesterday at pickle ball and my feet felt comfortable and stable the whole day. Who knew these were back in style. Oh, and I might add, they came in way under budget. Or, should I say way under what I normally pay for running shoes. Praise the Lord!
Trader Joeās Purchases
John whipped up a batch of Pumpkin Chocolate Chunk Oatmeal cookies for our Sunday brunch. Okay, Iāll just admit right here and now I might have eaten four of them in one day. So much for sugar avoidance. Delish.
We also got a spiced-apple scented candle for a fall vibe. I just love lighting it in the morning while Iām brewing my beverage and getting my autumn groove on.
Home Depot Purchase
We have had a bench at the end of our bed that is approximately 100 years old. I donāt mean as in an antique. I mean as in we bought it 100 years ago and it really was not a good fit in our room. This longer bench that fits in with our furniture is from Home Depot is a good find. They delivered it with no shipping charge and it came a week before the promise date. You can see that Roxy thinks itās just perfect.
I’m finishing up a couple of books by an author new to me and I’ll be excited to share with you on the next post.
Maybe something else exciting in my life will happen and I can post that too. Ha. Or I’ll just be happy hanging out and enjoying the cooler weather. Either way, I hope you have a wonderful week.
Hi! Please share the name of the thrift store!
Love your wreath(s).
I like those gold pumpkin too! All looks beautiful. š
