None of these are well-kept secrets, but I believe my $50 Trader Joe’s beauty haul could have saved me between $370 and $440!
I went down a little Trader Joe’s beauty-dupe rabbit hole and was surprised by some of the comparisons I found.
And I am here to spill the tea and break it all down for you.
Disclaimer: I am not a beauty expert (obviously!), but I did some research using AI Overview, product information, and a few influencer sources. I’m sharing what I found—not claiming to have personally tested every product or independently verified every comparison.
So, let’s get to the good stuff.
Trader Joe’s Leave In Conditioner $5.99
This is said to be a very close match for Ouai Leave In Conditioner, which sells for around $32.
Since I have thick, coarse and wavy hair, I was especially interested in this one.
I’ll take the $5.99 version and see how it works for me!
Trader Joe’s Organic Argan Oil $6.99
This one is pretty straightforward since the ingredient list contains just one ingredient: argan oil.
Several sources compare it to other pure argan oils, including Kate Blanc, which sells for around $26 on Amazon.
So, when you’re basically buying one ingredient, I’m not sure I need a fancy bottle and a fancy price tag.

I will confess: I had absolutely no idea what marula oil was supposed to do.
But I picked it up anyway and then did what any sensible beauty shopper would do—I researched it after I bought it 😉.
It is often compared to Drunk Elephant’s Virgin Marula Luxury Facial Oil, which sells for around $42.
And, like the argan oil, Trader Joe’s version contains just one ingredient: marula oil.
Reviews are generally very good, and it is often recommended for dry skin like mine. It may not be the best choice for oily skin.
So now I’m going to find out what it actually does for me.

Trader Joe’s Supreme Hydrating Eye Cream $5.99
Over the years, I’ve picked this one up whenever I happened to think about it and realized I was getting close to the bottom of whatever eye cream was currently living in my bathroom drawer.
And I always liked it just fine.
But now I’ve discovered that it is often compared to Kiehl’s Creamy Eye Treatment, which sells for around $40.
I think I like my $5.99 eye cream even better now!
Trader Joe’s Vitamin C Serum $9.99
Okay. Sit down because this is a big one.
This is the product I keep seeing pop up on social media because people seem to love it.
Trader Joe’s Vitamin C Serum is frequently compared with SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic, which sells for around $185.
Some sources point to similarities in the key active ingredients, although that doesn’t necessarily mean the two products are identical or perform exactly the same way.

Ten dollars versus $185?
I’m willing to give it a try.
Believe me, I understand there is no magic bullet—and certainly nothing short of a facelift is going to give me back ten years—but for ten bucks, I’m game.
Trader Joe’s Ultra Moisturizing Hand Cream $4.99
This one is a personal favorite.
It is often compared to L’Occitane Shea Butter Hand Cream, and I have actually purchased both.
I agree that they are remarkably similar.
Since I seem to have developed a bit of a hand cream addiction, I love having this small tube available in my purse. And the little burst of scent after washing my hands gives me a tiny boost during the day.
For $4.99, I’ll take it.
So, What Did My $50 Beauty Haul Save Me?
I normally don’t purchase a giant amount of beauty products all at once.
But this haul came from the crazy Trader Joe’s shopping trip I shared in my earlier post, and once I realized what I had in my cart, I couldn’t resist doing a little research.
The products I bought totaled about $51.
The higher-priced products they are commonly compared with could have cost hundreds more.
And that, my friends, is why I love a good Trader Joe’s discovery.
Are these products exact dupes for the expensive versions?
I can’t say that.
I’m not a chemist, a dermatologist, beauty influencer, dentist or gynocologist – you get it. But I can say that the price differences are pretty darn interesting.
And now I get to actually try them and see what I think.

I have always used the Tru C serum. I am almost done with a bottle I got at Natural Grocers (bc I was lazy and didn’t want to drive anywhere else). This was expensive. I’ve also tried TJs and for the price and results I will go back to TJs. Like you mentioned one ingredient why spend more! Facial day cream?
