A Few Things on My Summer Shopping Wish List

As you may or may not know, Amazon Prime Day (capitalized as if it’s a national holiday!) is fast approaching.

And while I’m no shopping aficionado (but I can certainly point you to a few who are 😉) there are a few things I have put on my summer purchasing wish list that you might find interesting too.

First, a disclaimer: I am not an Amazon affiliate. Nobody is paying me to recommend anything, but I’ll link what I can for your convenience.

Second, I thought I’d also share a few recent purchases that have worked out surprisingly well.

What I’m Considering

Motorized Light-Filtering Blinds

The blinds in our breakfast nook and family room are officially on their last legs. They’re also conveniently just out of warranty from the manufacturer.

I generally keep the blinds open because I love all that beautiful Arizona sunshine pouring in. But sometimes—especially this time of year—that sunshine gets a little aggressive.

Something light-filtering would be nice. Something motorized would be even better.

Did you know Amazon sells custom motorized blinds that are rechargeable and don’t require special wiring? They’re still a significant investment, so I’m researching carefully, but they’re definitely on my radar.

A Bread Slicer

My current bread-slicing situation is not doing my arthritic hands any favors.

Since I have no intention of giving up homemade sourdough anytime soon, I’m looking into a manual bread slicer. It may sound excessive, but if it saves my hands and keeps fresh bread on the menu, I can justify it.

At least that’s what I’m telling myself.

Natural Mosquito Repellent

While our mosquito situation isn’t nearly as dramatic as what many of you deal with, we still get our fair share of attacks on the back patio.

I recently came across some natural repellent balls made with citronella and essential oils. The reviews are promising, and I’m willing to give them a try before resorting to stronger measures.

A New Mascara

This one is completely random.

Lately my mascara has been irritating my eyes, and after doing a little reading, I discovered there are several inexpensive vegan options that people seem to love.

An e.l.f. mascara has found its way into my cart, and I suspect it may stay there until checkout day.

What I’ve Purchased Recently

A Tiny Coffee Maker

I recently traded in the Keurig for a small, inexpensive single-cup coffee maker. I actually purchased mine from Walmart but I’m linking Amazon’s page.

It takes up very little counter space, is easy to clean, and makes perfectly acceptable coffee for my admittedly unrefined palate.

No regrets.

A Walking Pad

I never intended to have an exercise room in the house—especially considering we have access to three gyms that I use regularly.

Still, I thought a small walking pad might be useful, and so far it’s been a great purchase.

I set it up in front of the Murphy bed (you can see our Murphy bed adventure here), where I can watch videos, answer emails, or catch up on blog work while getting a little extra movement in.

When guests arrive, it slides right under the bed and disappears.

That’s my favorite kind of exercise equipment: functional, lightweight, and easy to hide.

Wrap Up

So tell me—are you planning to take advantage of any of the upcoming summer sales?

It seems like Amazon starts the party and then Walmart and Target quickly join in with sales of their own, so I’ll probably be browsing all three.

Thank you so much for stopping by this weekend.

May God bless you and yours.
