Looking to boost your mornings?
Try these few simple habits that will help you feel refreshed, focused and ready to conquer the day. And every day, not just Tuesday!
Do Tuesdays feel sluggish? Like Hump Day is far away and Friday is impossibly far?
Is there a task list that is overwhelming and you just don’t know how you’re going to get through it?
Here are a few tips I’ve incorporated over the years that helped me to sail right into my favorite day of the week.
Which after years of retirement, still remains Friday!
Wake Up Earlier
A small change can make a big difference. When I get right up, wash my face, brush my hair and put on my exercise clothes, the tone of my day is set.
When you allow a few extra moments, there is a bit of time for a quick stretch, a ten-minute jump session on the rebounder, or a cup of coffee with creatine (more on that in an upcoming post!).
Consider Your Drink
If you consistently reach for your morning caffeine, consider a glass of water first. And if you can stand it, a squeeze of lemon or tablespoon of apple cider vinegar added to your water can make a real difference in the way you feel.

In addition to that, I also add to my morning coffee. What, you may ask? Lots of cinnamon, a healthy dose of cayenne (thanks to Denisse for the suggestion) and now a scoop of creatine. Let’s not discuss the amount of half and half I add. Yikes!
Oh, and while we were at Buc-ee’s I picked up a stainless steel cup which I am using every cruise morning for my cup o’ joe. It keeps my drink nice and hot and I don’t spill it on the way back to our room.

Set a Goal for the Day
To this day, I still keep my Outlook calendar updated. I find that when I populate events, appointments and tasks on Outlook, my day feels less stressful.
I’m sure that is just an old habit hard to break. But really, I’m glad I kept the habit!
Most everyone now keeps their calendars on their phones, but Outlook is still my go-to.
And oh, yeah. The old standby calendar diary. I picked up the cutest 2026 book at Dollar Tree. P.S. It wasn’t a $1.25. It seems like nothing there is anymore.
Move Your Body
When I put exercise clothes on first thing, there is no way I’m not exercising before I shower and change.
Prioritizing exercise has never been a problem for me, but during this festive, busy season, it might be easy to let exercise slip.
But even getting a few steps in and lifting some weights will go a long way in making for a better day.

Wrap Up
I know many of you have already incorporated good habits into your day, but if you feel there has been some slippage lately, I hope this gives you some motivation to get back on track.
Yes, hub and I are still enjoying the (not) love boat adventure, but I am trying to incorporate these practices as much as I can.
I was so encouraged by the rainbow outside the window in front of my exercise machine. When the good Lord gives you a wink, you know you’re on the right track!

Thank you for sharing my journey and may God bless you and yours.
