Target Dollar Spot

The Target Dollar Spot really delivered during a recent shopping trip.  I had as much fun as a kid in a candy store and I brought a small haul home.

To be quite frank, our Target is in the hood.  No offense if you live in the hood, of course.

But when I visit other Target stores, I’m always jealous because the one closest to our house is just a pit.

But this time, the Dollar Spot was pretty well stocked and full of cute things.

There was a specific item I was looking for, and of course, they didn’t have it, but I was able to order it online, fill my online cart until it contained $35 worth of goods and then have it two-day shipped.

I did take and pass Economics, but only a true shopper will see the wisdom in that. And I was able to compare and contrast in-store versus online shopping. See, there you go.

Kitchen Soap Dispensers

We were in need of a dish detergent bottle refresh.  Again, there are certain people in my house who could not see that at all.  But I knew it to be true.   You can judge me by dusty furniture or cat fur on your chair, but I really cannot stand to be judged by my tired soap dispenser.

On some or other blog I saw the cutest soap dispensers but our store did not have them.  I found them online and voila.

The odd thing is that they come in a package of two sets.  I’m not sure who needs two dish detergent bottles, but I’ll figure something out.

The price was so low, it really doesn’t matter.  Ten dollars for four glass bottles.

Wooden Tray

The wooden and metal tray I found in the coffee display is so dang cute and such a perfect size I’m thinking about going back and getting a second one to put in my actual coffee area.

This one is living in the guest bath and corralling a few things in there.  Highly recommend!

Speaking of their coffee display, they have lots of new and cute things in there.  I didn’t get anything else, but I think these items will all find new homes soon.

Tea Towels

Another item needing some refreshing in our house is our dish towels.  Don’t get me wrong, our drawer is full, but they are not in very good shape.

I’m not sure how great of deal these $5 towels are because the quality isn’t great, but the green sunshine one is a set of two and the wine towel came with a pot holder.  If you wouldn’t think it was too cheap, it would make a cute hostess gift.

Their selection is huge and I had a hard time narrowing down which ones I wanted.

Organization Bins

They had plenty of cute bins and tubs.  I found small gray felt bin for under my desk.  I gathered up the unsightly power strip and cords and put them in the basket.   The extra length of cord I ran up the back of my desk and secured near the top with a Command hook.  It looks much better and will be easier to sweep.

I made a few other Target purchases and I’m equally happy with all of it. Thumbs up, Target. Now, please put a store closer to our house and put a great big Studio McGee section in it.

What I’m Eating

From Skinnytaste.com, I tried Sofrito Chicken Stew.  I adapted it for the crockpot and it smelled heavenly while it was cooking.

But.

It was blah.  Even hub who loves drumsticks thought it was blah.  I took a picture and it was sort of disgusting, so I won’t post.  I’m not really recommending this recipe, but I’m also not blaming it on Gina.  I’m blaming it on my adaption.

The good news is that it calls for annatto and not only did I not know what that is, I’ve never used it.  Luckily I have all the spices on hand and was able to make my own.  Learn something new every day, right?

Wrap Up

I wanted to share some fitness news and thoughts, but this post got too long.  And.  Well.  To be honest, I injured myself in a class a couple of months ago, started up physical therapy and now it seems like something new gets pulled every time I kick up my routine.

Dang it.

Consider very carefully getting old.  I do not recommend it.  Stay young.  Enjoy those young limbs and joints and skin.

And while you’re enjoying your beautiful body, have a wonderful weekend.
