Are you celebrating cooler weather or are you already missing summer?
As much as I love waking up to walking weather, this year has flown by way too fast for me.
September potpourri is my little corner discussing this and that and catching up with you.
Here is what Iāve been up to.
Fall Decorating
Iāve decided to skip putting out fall dĆ©cor this year. Why? Beats me.
And then. I look around and realize Iām really tired of what I put up for summer.
So instead of skipping it entirely, I just put out a few touches here and there. Of course, there is the big mess taking everything apart you’ve seen a hundred times around here. Then I brought out my existing stuff and sorted everything out.
I bought a couple of oak stems from Michaels that I thought were pretty and not too over the top with crazy color.Ā I put them on my desk which doubles as a sofa table in the living room.Ā Thatās it for new stuff. They are on sale for $5 a stem right now.
Here is a picture of the morning light of a few changes in our family room.
And here is the tiny bit I did in the kitchen. The morning light is streaming in.
What Iām Reading
I havenāt discussed books in ages, right?
On audio, my sister Monique suggested The Eyes and the Impossible written by Dave Eggers and narrated by actor Ethan Hawke.Ā If you listen to ONE THING I SAY, get this book.Ā You will not be sorry.
Dave Egger wrote The Circle which I found disturbing and unenjoyable. But this one? I cannot even go into the ways I love this audio book.
If youāre not happy when itās over there is nothing I can do for you.
The last in my old favorite series, Maisie Dobbs, The Comfort of Ghosts, was another audio listen. It was good and Iām so sad the series is over (18 books), I am going to read it too.
The Manitou, by Graham Masterson, is a recommendation from my other sister, Susie. Letās just say I would have rather skipped it.
Cobb Salad
Speaking of Susie, she sent me a picture of the beautiful Cobb salad she made. She calls it a āgood way to use leftoversā but I call it a fancy meal.
This is what her version of the salad included:
- Seeded cucumber
- Diced ham
- Slice grape tomatoes
- Diced Gouda & Swiss cheese
- Chopped green & red bell pepper
Thanks for sharing with us and giving us inspiration for a hearty salad.
Wrap Up
I am excited for the week ahead. We really are anticipating perfect weather and have an outdoor concert in our future.
Thank you for joining me and have a very happy week. God bless you and yours.
