This is my post where I chat about this and that. Not to be confused with my recent post DIY Autumn Potpourri. But you knew that!
Holiday Prep
Everywhere you shop it is apparent the holidays are in full force. Are you prepping for the holidays yet?
We are so lucky in our neighborhood that the children have totally given up trick or treating and go to the neighboring community.
We do have a trunk or treat event/happy hour at the club. It’s very fun because people decorate their golf carts and give the kids candy. The club has a bar set up and a DJ spinning Michael Jackson and other spooky tunes.
So other than that, there is no Halloween prep for us. How about for you?
Thanksgiving this year is November 27th which falls sort of late and leaves little time for cuckoo Christmas shopping. If that is something you do.
My loved ones and I try to spend time together over the holidays and skip the gifts. So no big Black Friday shopping plans for me.
We always participate in our community Turkey Trot. God willing, we will be there again this year putting in our steps before a pig-out.
I have not even begun to think about any meal plans or possible entertaining.
And I’m totally skipping Christmas.
So I say every year.
Table Top Inspiration
Hub and I ventured out to our favorite outdoor mall, Kierland, this week and the tabletops displayed at Williams Sonoma were drool worthy!
Who buys that stuff? Well, if you do, God bless you.
I honestly did not know what this little cloche was for but it was so cute. Turned out it was for butter. Ha!

This crystal! Okay, it needs to be stored and then the washing and drying after drinking. Not for me, but gorgeous.

This platter and dome were STUNNING! It’s so shiny you can see my picture-taking reflection. And it’s huge.

And then a trip into Pottery Barn and more beauty. This is their Thanksgiving table.

And this felt like more everyday autumn dishes. If your everyday looks like this, that is.

What I’m Eating
I tried a new sourdough sandwich bread recipe from the Feathered Nester. Who has quickly become my sourdough go-to site.
The bread was easy, baked in just 25 minutes and is soft and yummy. If you’re looking for a sourdough recipe that’s perfect for a PB&J, this is it.

What I’m Reading
Have I mentioned how much I’m enjoying the Colter Shaw books from Jeffery Deaver? Well, that’s put me on an all-books Deaver reading binge.
I just finished The Bodies Left Behind by Deaver. It’s not a Colter Shaw book but it was a decent detective book with a good twist.
Manhattan is My Beat is an early Deaver book, written in the 80s. He has definitely improved. I wonder if I would have liked it if I would have read it back then.
On audio I listened to The Woman on the Ledge by Ruth Mancini. I liked it and it had a lost of twists. Quite a bit different from my usual book choices. However, the narrator, Annabel Scholey, was pretty slow so I speeded it up to 1.5 and got through it quickly.
What We’re Doing
This is much more John than it is me, but we are still doing puzzles regularly. We have found that the 500-piece puzzles are more fun and take up less real estate.
We went into Hobby Lobby recently and hub stocked up on a ton of puzzle because they were 40% off. I still look at Rusty’s for the $2 selections and the free ones at the library.
This hot rod puzzle was a lot of fun for him.

Anthem Autumnfest was held over the weekend and the weather could not have been better. I took a picture of the cute pumpkin patch and you can see the beautiful blue sky, green grass and pretty trees.

Wrap Up
Thanks for spending time with me catching up. Let us know how you are celebrating this season and share the fun!
As always, my prayers are with you.
