(For Free)
Do you know what is best about enjoying the holidays? When you put zero work into it!
Here are a few ways I’ve been having holiday fun (for free) and soaking up a little Christmas spirit.
Holiday Stroll
Our outstanding December weather has allowed me to be outside walking almost every day. Bright sunny skies, no wind and holiday decorations to enjoy.
I peeped into the train tunnel in our park and they have it all lit up for the passengers. It’s the same every year, but I never get tired of it.
Resort Festivities
I know that sounds very expensive, but Denisse and I did it for free. And then the sweet, bored valets visited with us and took our pics in front of their Christmas tree.
We met up for lunch and then walked about a block to the beautiful JW Marriott. The JW is hosting night festivities including gingerbread reindeer houses, real snow, an ice rink and more.
We were free to wander the resort and take pictures and feel fancy.
I’m not sure who (JW’s culinary team?) built a gingerbread display of reindeer houses made of real goodies.
Take a look at the close up of this roof! We spent a lot of time enjoying each of the displays.
The lobby also had a huge sleigh ready for Santa pics.
Denisse and I were there after noon so nothing had started up yet and we had everything to ourselves.
Holiday Parties
Hub and I attended a very casual happy hour patio party at a Scottsdale restaurant one evening. The sunset over the golf course was so pretty and my poor camera does it no justice.
It was nice attending an event where we didn’t know anybody but met some really nice people.
We have both been under the weather for the past week, so it was nice poking our heads up and acting like human beings.
Not my party, but my dear friends Erik (on the right) and AJ sent me a picture of their AZ Healthcare Executives event.
Back in the day, we used to all attend these events together. You can see I’m missing from the picture.
Darn it, but aren’t they so handsome? I think one is the incoming group president and one is the outgoing. Something like that. I’m so proud of them both.
Wrap Up
There are more activities in our community we plan to attend with friends over the next weeks. Everything is casual with no planning, house cleaning, cooking, prepping.
Those things are fun too, but if you’re looking for some holiday fun without the stress and expense, I’ve got you covered with a few ideas!
