DIY Hand Mask

If your holiday season seems really busy, this might be a good time to slow down and administer self-care.

Today I have you covered with a recipe for a hydrating DIY hand mask.

Prepping for an evening out spurred me to do a little extra self-care that I had been slacking on lately.  And Iā€™m not busy.  Just lazy.

So I dug out those little razor thingies for just-in-case facial hair, some eyebrow tint, a facial mask and then I noticed my hands.

My poor dried up hands.

Now I do care for my hands.  Constantly.  All day long.  Between using arthritis creams and my addiction to moisturizer, every time I wash my hands, I treat them to lotion.

I think I have bottles of lotion in every room of my house.  And my purse.  And my car.  You get the picture.

But no matter how hard I try they still look pretty raggedy.  Letā€™s address them best as we can.

First of all, I gave my nails a jazzy mani with sparkly red paint.  Score one for festivityā€™s sake.

Then I made this yummy mask from ingredients I have on hand.

DYI Hand Mask Ingredients

  • 1 TBSP melted coconut oil
  • 1 tsp warm honey
  • 1 TBSP Aloe gel

Yep, that is it.  I melted the oil in the microwave then I added the honey and warmed it slightly in the microwave.

My beautiful aloe vera donated a leaf.  When you cut off an aloe leaf it leaks a yellow liquid.  Do not use that.  That can be irritating.   Slice open the leaf and scoop out the gel with a spoon.  Smash that up in the warmed coconut and honey.

This mask smells delightful but it is a bit messy.  I used disposable gloves and kept the mask on a half hour.

Wrap Up

My hands felt really good for the evening so Iā€™m giving this mask two thumbs up.  I wonā€™t torture you with a before and after shot of my hands because I never was hand-model material.

Hub took a picture of me as a sight to behold.

But if you want something that feels good and makes you feel a tiny bit special over the holidays, give this a try.

Do you have any self-care tips to share?

God bless you and yours this week and thanks for being here.
