Wait! Come back here! I really want you to clean with me!
Before you think this is the most boring post ever, I thought you might like to come along on a typical “light” cleaning day and see what gets done and what does not.
If you need some motivation to do a little something extraordinary in your cleaning routine, this is your post.
Kitchen
The kitchen takes by far and away the longest time. I scour the sink, clean the appliances, wipe the fronts of the cabinets and steam the floors.
When needed or every other week, we take out the runner and hose it down. Usually I spray it down with Dawn Power Wash and then give it a good, strong hose.
On this occasion, hub brought out the big guns.Ā He used the Bissell carpet cleaner and did a deep clean.
Since it was a nice sunny day, we laid the runner over our back pony wall and lickety-split it was dry.
Ok, this is a āClean with My Friend.ā Barb was wondering if it would be safe to clean her range hood filter in the dishwasher. What the heck, why not. The dishwasher should cut any grease really well.
She tried it and it worked wonderfully. She sent a pic to show how shiny and clean it is. I know most people donāt think too much about their filter (I certainly donāt) but in case you wanted to know, it worked.
Launder Throw Blankets & Pillow Covers
Most of my pillow covers are machine washable and wash up nicely. If Iāve spent a lot of couch time in one spot, I like to launder the pillows I rest against.
I machine wash the pillow covers and line dry them.
About once a month, I round up all the throw blankets and toss them in the washer and dryer. They come out so soft and snuggly.
After they get treated so badly thrown on the laundry room floor, donāt they look nice and clean?
Bathroom
Of course, I clean all the same places in the bathroom you do, but every now and then I take the steam mop and give the shower floor a good steam.
Forgive how stained the mop cloth looks. I really do wash them, but I donāt bleach them.
If you use the same Shark steamer I do, you can flip the head over and use it backwards to get out a big puff of steam. I like to do that around the toilets and in the shower.
Wrap Up
On my light cleaning day I donāt do any dusting and usually donāt mop the entire house. Thatās what makes it light.
And since itās a light day, I find time to do a few extra things like these.
Do you have any tips or suggestions for those days when you do something out of the ordinary?
On a completely separate note, when I was walking last week, I saw that someone had put the cutest Bible verse rocks near the sidewalk in a few places.Ā This one says, āThere is No Rock Like Our God.ā
On that note, God bless you and yours for a wonderful weekend.
Which steam mop do you use and would you recommend it? I’m in the market for one.
Hi, Connie! Steam mops have gotten expensive for some reason. When I needed to replace mine, I got the same Shark model I had before and I bought it used and reconditioned from eBay.
