My sisters and I are celebrating Christmas this Easter.
What? You might ask.
Instead of exchanging gifts this year, we decided to plan a sisters trip—and it just so happens to fall on Easter weekend. We’re heading to Palm Springs, and I couldn’t be more excited.
Since it’s a little over a four-hour drive for me, I’ll be behind the wheel and providing our transportation for the trip. Which also means… strategic packing is a must.
When I get back, I’ll be sharing all of our favorite spots, meals, and must-do activities. But for now, I wanted to share exactly what I’m packing—and how I’m making it all fit.
Because even though we’re driving, space is still limited. Four people, luggage, a cooler, and house supplies add up quickly!
Outfit Plan
I always like to plan outfits ahead of time so I don’t overpack (or forget something I actually need).

Travel Day
Comfort is key. I’ll be wearing:
- Athletic leggings
- A lightweight top
- My favorite New Balance sneakers
Everyday Casual Looks
My go-to in warm weather is an athletic skort and top—easy, comfortable, and still pulled together.
- 2 athletic skort outfits
A Few Extras
- 1 dressy shorts outfit
- 1 jeans outfit (perfect for Easter breakfast)
- 1 lightweight sundress (just in case the mood strikes)

How I Fit Everything in One Bag
Since we’re tight on space in the car, I challenged myself to pack as efficiently as possible—and these two things made a huge difference.

Compression Bags
These were a game changer. (Similar ones here.) I used them for everything, including bulkier items like my athletic outfits and sweats, and they seriously cut down the space in my bag.
And no, Roxy is not joining us, but she loved helping me pack.
Travel Backpack
Instead of a traditional suitcase, I used a roomy travel backpack. It made it so much easier to organize everything and keep essentials within reach.
I showed a picture of this backpack when it was new and stain-free on trip to Glacier last year. Gosh, the years go by quickly!

I love that it slides right over a suitcase handle too, which made it perfect for travel days.
It has since been on several trips and has a few scuffs on it, but otherwise is like new.
Wrap Up
I’m really looking forward to a weekend of sunshine, relaxing, and quality time with my sisters.
If you celebrate Easter, I’m sending you the blessings of the Resurrection and a beautiful holiday weekend.
And next week—I’ll be sharing everything we did in Palm Springs.
