Celebrating New Year’s Eve – Two Ways

There are two ways to celebrate New Year’s – in or out.  Here is my version of the two ways. And some ideas to maximize the day!

New Year’s Eve Morning

Ok, now, you haven’t started partying yet, so get up, get dressed and lace up your shoes.  Why wait for tomorrow (or the next day) to start your resolution exercise routine?

Today, try a new exercise drill, a video routine, or maybe just a walk.  I promise, you won’t be sorry for having gotten a little exercise early in the day.

This is an excellent plan whether you are celebrating in or out.

And you might be mitigating any damage you plan on doing tonight!

New Year’s Eve Brunch

How about a little mimosa brunch?  Nothing like a home baked muffin and mimosas.  The muffins can be made ahead, so no muss and fuss in the kitchen.  Just enjoying a little leisurely morning while you’re celebrating in.

If you’re celebrating this part of your day out, find a cute café and treat yourself to a fancy coffee and a pastry.  Or just a coffee and enjoy the muscle burn from your morning workout.

New Year’s Eve Day

There are so many activities going on during New Year’s Eve day.  If you are spending the day alone or with a friend or a group, there seems to be something for everyone this day.  Here are some ideas:

  • Visit the art museum
  • See a movie (I know there probably isn’t a good one, so stream an oldie at home)
  • Bowl, roller skate, ice skate, putt-putt
  • Attend a concert
  • Find a winter festival

Remember last spring when we hosted John’s birthday party at Pop Stroke? I looked at their site and their New Year’s party consists of unlimited golf, buffet, free soft drinks and a champagne toast at midnight. Doesn’t that sound fun? Ryan reminded me that it wouldn’t be my age group attending. Hmmmpf!

New Year’s Eve

Okay, here’s the big deal about staying in.  It’s safe, it’s warm, it’s comfy.  But in some people’s opinion, it’s boring when everyone else is out painting the town red.

You know, a fire, a pair of sweats, a good book and a naughty kitty are things I never tire of.  And they will most likely be my New Year’s Eve activity.  Again.

But going out can be fun and hosting can be fun.  Next post I’ll be sharing some ideas for a simple celebration at home on a budget.

If you haven’t been invited to a party, many hotels host balls or parties for a nominal charge.  Here is a little-known fact.  Hub and I met at one of those parties.  Yep, New Year’s Eve 1986.  Hard to believe!

Other event venues hold fun activities that will usher you into the New Year, so it might be a good evening to try something new.

I know our bus system is offering free rides on NYE so if you’re out, take advantage of any free ride you can get.  It’ll be worth your time.

Wrap Up

I hope your holiday week has been peaceful and joyful.  Try to minimize the stress and enjoy who you’re with or what you’re doing.
