Haunted Crescent Hotel

There is a tradition in our family loving all things haunted.Ā  My sisters, niece and nephew love to tell ghost stories when we are together.Ā  Some of them are actually scary.Ā  Some are pretty lame, but it doesnā€™t stop us.

Spooky

So when DH and I had a chance to stay in the haunted Crescent Hotel in Eureka Springs, Arkansas recently, we upped our ghostly game.

I can tell you I have visited many of the top ā€œhauntedā€ spots and never get to see a spook.

But.

On this trip, we did actually get a spooky experience!Ā  We met two ladies who were ghost hunting.Ā  They did not know each other, but met in their pursuit of the paranormal and befriended us while we were eating dinner at the hotel bar.

Front of Crescent Hotel

Later we met them in the hallway and they had conjured up some real stuff.  Sorry, I donā€™t have pics, but those ladies caught videos of orbs on their phones ā€“ as we watched.  I have always seen things like that on TV, but never in real life.

Of course, I cannot explain what an orb is, but I can tell you our naked eyes could not see them, but they were sure there. Woooooo.

Crescent Game Room

The building is not in great shape, but they have beautiful spaces such as this game room and the dining room.

Big Foot

Now the Sasquatch must be a thing in Arkansas because we saw lots of signs and kitchy art in peopleā€™s yards.Ā  It also serves as a mascot for one of their sports teams.

Bigfoot and Me

And.

I found a nice and friendly one at a lake we stopped by in Eureka Springs.  He kind of broke the chair, but I enjoyed catching up with him.

Jasper

Jasper the Crescent Cat

Iā€™m not sure if cats mind ghosts or not, but we met the most laid-back, precious tuxedo named Jasper.  When we travel I miss my girls so much, but Jasper gave me the kitty fix I needed.  Where there was a patch of sun, I could find him.

What Iā€™m Reading

We were so busy for a week, I didnā€™t read much or listen to my audio book.  I was listening to Before and After by Rosellen Brown.  I picked it out because it featured one of my favorite narrators, C J Crit.  But, dang it was a disappointment.  It was made into a movie several years ago (which apparently was a bomb) so somebody must have liked it.

Let me just say my library loan expired and wiped it off my phone and Iā€™m not going to request a renewal.  Yep, Iā€™m abandoning it.

Too long and boring and a train wreck coming thatā€™s too predictable.  Sorry, cannot recommend that one.

I finished Strip by Thomas Perry and while itā€™s not one of his best, I liked it.  I like the way his books always give a back story about the bad guys.  You know, psychopaths have feelings too.  Ha.  I did like it but it might not be for everyone.

What Iā€™m Eating

ā€œVacationā€ food and drink is not a good route for me to take, but I do it all the time.Ā  I ate way too much sugar while we were gone and am trying to get back on track now.

Homemade Vegetable Soup with Parmesan Sprinkles

The first thing we did upon return was hub making a trip to Sprouts for fresh veggies and me whipping up a pot of homemade vegetable soup in the crockpot.Ā  Of course, I had to serve mine with a hot, crusty roll, but I didnā€™t eat it with a side of delish Mexican Coke.Ā  Oh, yeah, Iā€™ve been drinking some of those.

Iā€™m going to be trying out a couple of new recipes to share with you soon, but this week back to somewhat  healthy basics.

It was good to get out and do something different, but air travel may be even more exhausting now than ever and we endured a lot of trials I wonā€™t detail here.  If youā€™re planning a spring trip, be sure to budget time for unexpected surprises and be sure to take your own beverages and snacks on the plane with you.

Wish you the best weekend ever!  XO
