While I still love our bedroom furniture and want to keep it ā including our headboard ā the bed-rails and box springs are dated. It has become increasingly hard to find bedding that includes a bed skirt to accommodate that set up.
Because I want new bedding, this was a perfect time to update our bed with a platform bed. We needed to find a bed that would allow us to use our existing headboard and would lend itself to a quilt-style bedspread.
Overstock.com had the perfect solution, a decent price and they got the bed to us in less than a week. The box came destroyed and poorly packaged, but there was no damage to the bed.
Hub got the old bed out and the new bed assembled and in place lickety split. Lucky for him, Roxy and Kinsey were on hand and helped out quite a bit.
Now you can see the big mess this left in the living room and one more reason why my house was destroyed last week. Not to worry, though, everything is clean and shiny now.
My new bedding should be here next week and Iām excited to see what it looks like in person and share it with you.
Anthem Veteranās Memorial
Our DFs Barb and Stuart were honored this week at a ceremony laying memorial veteransā pavers at the Anthem Veterans Memorial. Barb is retired Air Force and Stuart is a veteran of the Navy.
We attended the ceremony which took place on a beautiful January morning. The flowers around the pillars and the blue sky made for such a striking day.
I have mentioned this memorial several times and it has a special place in my heart because my dad has a paver there as well as many of my friendsā loved ones.
I have never been able to attend a paver ceremony before, so I was so happy we were able to share the event with dear friends. We love these patriot friends of ours.
What Iām Reading
One of the most frustrating things is to start reading a book only to discover a few chapters in that Iāve read it before. Ugh. Did that this week. Again. Old age. I never loved the book enough the first time to read it again, so I discarded it.
And then. I didnāt have a booked queued up to read on my Kindle. What? Nothing to read? Luckily, I have some back up books loaded up ready to go. I pulled out a Michael Connelly Bosch, The Concrete Blonde. Itās been a while since I read a Bosch. The primary reason is because the popular Netflix series sort of ruined it for me. The series was okay, but I never pictured Harry Bosch like that.
Having said all that, I will say that Matthew McConaughey made a perfect Mickey Haller ā Boschās half brother – in the Lincoln Lawyer movie.
In any case, I had really forgotten what a truly good writer Connelly is and Iām plowing through the book.
Iām giving this a five-star rating, I think.
I hope your week goes well; Iām sending lots of love out and hope you are feeling it.
