I am a sucker for a pretty hook.Ā I know, isnāt that crazy?Ā I love to have unruly things organized and have found that using hooks helps me round up things in a pretty way.Ā Iām sharing my top uses for decorative hooks.
Ear Bud Round Up
After using earbuds, I like to coil them up and put them on a hook above my desk. That way I donāt have those little snakes lying around the house in the last place I used my phone, while I search high and low for them.
I use my wireless earbuds for my morning workout and I sure donāt want to waste time hunting things down first thing. After I use them, I charge them up and hang them where I can put my fingers on them very early in the morning.
Home Office Hooks
My home office can double as a guest room if needed. I have a trundle daybed, so I can sleep two in that room if needed. I have two hooks behind the door for guest towels, handbags, bathrobes, whatever. I use it to hang my computer bag when itās not in use. I just love these little bird hooks.
Guest Room Hook
I put another bird hook next to the closet in the guest room just for extra hanging space for guests. I think itās handy for guests to hang a damp towel or display something they donāt necessarily want in the closet.
Guest Bath Hook
When I take a bath, I hate dripping on the floor reaching for a towel on the bar. I found this pretty crystal top hook and placed it right next to the tub. This hook has been so handy and gets used every time I bathe.
Shower Hooks
I had a bath towel stand in our shower before our remodel last year, but I didnāt really like it in our new space. We had our contractor drill into the subway tiles and hang hooks that match the plumbing in our master bath. Because the towels really hang right inside the shower, we donāt even have to get cold reaching for them. I love not having to fold towels to hang on a rack.
Coat Closet
I hung a rack of hooks inside the coat closet and it keeps our various backpacks off the floor and ready to go just in case a hiking trail starts calling our names. I know this isn’t really too pretty, but I had to add it to this post because these hooks have really solved a problem storing these backpacks.
I find that everything doesnāt have to be stuffed into a drawer. When itās neatly hung on a hook, it doesnāt detract from my dĆ©cor. Now you know why Iām hooked on hooks.
What Iām Reading
I mentioned on last week I was reading The Name of the Wind. I finally finished it and have to say I really enjoyed it. I liken it to a grown-up Harry Potter. The main character is on his heroās journey in this fantasy. I like that the world is different than the one we live in, but things are more or less recognizable and easy to understand. Fantasy is not my favorite genre because the names and places are usually too much for me to follow and keep track of during the story, but this one is fine. What I didnāt love about this book is that itās the first of a trilogy and it had no ending. It just stopped. I like when books can stand alone and this one was not so graceful.
On audio I finished Death Benefits by Thomas Perry. I love Perry, but this wasnāt my favorite. A bit too much meandering, but it had an exciting finish and I wasnāt sorry I spent time with it.
What Iām Eating
Again, I didnāt eat this, but I did make it ā cabbage casserole. Itās one of the hubās favs and I serve it over mashed potatoes. He ate leftovers for two or three days and had a happy tummy. No new recipe, but this is on repeat for us.
My sister Monique is making a recipe from a different cookbook every week and hereās what she reported: Cookbook of the Week: this week is The Colorado Cache Cookbook. Last night I made the Scandinavian Meatballs recipe with turkey, and it was very good https://www.bigoven.com/recipe/scandinavian-meatballs/1281087
I like to share something new, so here you go!
What Iām Doing
We have a pickle ball posse who has been playing early Sunday mornings. It includes DFs Barb and Stu and Evon. John really played for the first time this past Sunday after giving his knee a chance to heal. It was killing him to watch up play, I think.
It seems like all of us got cute and sassy skirts this last week.
We followed up our court time with pool time and enjoyed relaxing in the pool and ordered lunch from the grill.
Our club reopened a bit this week and we got to use the pool for the first time this year. Even though it was a simple morning and afternoon out, it felt so special, I thought Iād won the lottery.
I hope your week ahead is wonderful. Peace and grace.
Today has been 68 days with no gym in Nevada. I would kill someone to get my hands on a set of dumbbells. š So I am super-stoked for you that your “amenities” are available again. I can’t wait until I have that lottery-winning feeling.
And I am gonna get some cute hooks for my headphones – it likely will also prevent the all the knots when just balled up and thrown in a drawer. Brilliant idea!
Is that gym open yet?!
