It was time to restock my freezer with homemade baked goods, so I spent a morning baking—and I’m sharing what I made.
First, before I show you any pictures, let me state for the record that I will in no way be offered a spot on a cooking show.
Yeah. It’s pretty bad.
But…homemade goodies are still way better than what we get at the store, so let’s get to it.

Sourdough Bread
This bread is on my regular rotation, so I do have it down to a science wherein I make a bit less mess than I do with any other baked good.
I still find the no-knead sourdough recipe from Feathered Nester works best for me.
The big upgrade I made recently was a new manual bread slicer.
Oh, my. This is a big hand-saver compared to using a bread knife.
Highly recommend if you regularly make crusty bread.

Life-Changing Chocolate Chip Cookies
I shared the cookies I made from Kale Junkie’s Life-Changing Chocolate Chip Tahini Cookies here before.
So…hmmm.
This time, the texture was completely different.
The taste was the same—may I say delish!—but the texture was sort of rough instead of smooth.
I did use a wooden spoon for the last step, and I think last time I used my stand mixer.
I have no idea if that was the difference, but I do have a batch of homemade cookies in my freezer.
For, you know, when I need a little somethin’.

Gluten-Free Oatmeal Cookies
I think I have shared this recipe from the old Joy of Cooking several times. They are hands-down John’s favorite cookie, and I simply substitute gluten-free all-purpose flour for regular flour.
Now, I screwed these up a bit too.
Yep.
I completely forgot that my cookie scoop is a little too big for these cookies, and they promptly spread into each other.
What I need is a slightly smaller scoop.
Or, possibly, I need to remember to fill the scoop only halfway.
So instead of a lovely two-dozen batch, I more or less got one giant cookie.
While they were still soft and slightly warm, I cut them apart.
Luckily, John doesn’t care.
But I won’t be serving these to company. 😉

European-Style Granola
The recipe for my European-style granola is here.
I’ve found that keeping a batch in the freezer means that a late-night dinner of cereal and milk can still provide me with a little homemade goodness.
There are some very good granolas available at the store, but I like knowing exactly what goes into this one.
I can limit the sugar and increase the protein with a generous amount of yummy nuts.
And, oh, yeah, it tastes really good.

Gluten-Free Pie Crust
This may seem like a bit of a cheat, but pre-made gluten-free pie crusts can be hard to find in stores, and I am not currently up to trying my hand at making them from scratch.
But I do make homemade chicken pot pie.
I top the chicken and vegetable mixture with a bit of crumbled pie crust before serving, which gives it a little crunch without requiring me to make an actual pie crust.
I’ve shared my recipe before, but I now make my own white sauce instead of using canned soup.
I’ll type that up and share pictures soon.

Wrap-Up
You can bet my kitchen was a disaster after my morning spent stocking up on treats.
And sometimes I get a little shaky after my morning coffee, so there was a bit of an accident involving some of the oats.
Luckily, I have a good broom.
But now everything is nice and tidy, and Hub will get homemade chicken pot pie while he watches football and pretends it’s sweater weather.
Instead of swimsuit weather.
I hope this motivates you to keep a few things on hand to treat yourself so when the horrible hungries hit, you can make better choices.
May God bless you and yours for a wonderful week.
