Recommended New Purchases

(That Have Absolutely, Positively Nothing to Do With Christmas)

We have not had a shopping trip in a long time, so I thought I would show you some new purchases that receive a big thumbs up from me.

And yes, they have absolutely, positively nothing to do with Christmas.

But.  I started this post while I was doing a bit of Cyber Monday Christmas shopping and I wanted to show you how I was setting the mood.  A little fire, a little kitty, well you get the picture.  And the high on Monday was 80ā°.

That is not a complaint.  I can watch snow on TV all day and not feel a bit cheated.

So on to some new things I want to share with you.

Bedding

Our bedroom tends to be dark which I cannot stand.  So the more bright and cheerful the bedding, the better.  But I wanted to tend towards neutral for fall thinking chambray and beige would be the ticket.

Duvets are not great for our climate or for hubā€™s temperament.  They are way too fussy.  I tried double stuffing this one (because itā€™s huge and oversize).  Getting that fluffy Pottery Barn look as my goal, but I couldnā€™t keep the inserts together and it was just a big heavy mess.

Keeping one insert and folding the linen duvet on the bottom of the bed looks fluffy and pretty and minimizes the fuss.

The lightweight quilt I found is so pretty and looks expensive.Ā  But it was not.Ā  We need a little more warmth now, so I added our down blanket and voila!Ā  The bed really gives me the look I like.

While I was linking these items, they are both on clearance now and the total price for both, including shams for a king size bed is $50!

Towels

Earlier this year we found new towels at Costco, but not the Charisma brand Iā€™ve always liked so well.

Then I saw a recommendation for this towel set from Target, rating them higher than much more expensive Serena and Lily towels.Ā  I opted for the bath sheets instead of bath towels.Ā  They are huge and fluffy and absorbent and perfect for our cool-weather bathroom.

They are the Threshold brand, but not designed with Studio McGee.  They have perfect five-star reviews online and I concur!

Cold Kicker

We both picked up a bug to come visit our house over the weekend.  Dang it!  Itā€™s not the worst cold in the world, but Iā€™d rather have skipped it.

Luckily I had these Cold Kickers on hand and dropping one of these bombs in the shower provides the tiniest bit of head clearing.

Cordless Shop Vac

This vac is a special request from hub.  And since we donā€™t exchange gifts, it was nice to purchase something he wanted.

He hates having to roll out the big, heavy extension cord every time he wants to use a vacuum to tidy up his car.

This lightweight, cordless vac does the trick!Ā  Itā€™s not a name brand, but the price was right so we gave it a try.Ā  He charged up the battery and I used it to run over the floor on the passenger side of his car.Ā  It worked great.

And yes, we both have red cars now.

Wrap Up

I hope you had a nice Thanksgiving weekend and are welcoming December.

Our gym has become so crowded this season that I am having to rethink (again!) my exercise routines.  If our wonderful weather holds, I think Iā€™ll be walking and biking and avoiding the crowds as much as possible.

Iā€™ve enjoyed the Pilates twice a week, but hate being on a mat 10 inches from a stranger.

Any suggestions for winter workouts?

God bless for a wonderful week ahead.
