Fun and Free (or Cheap)

Sometimes I like to prove to myself that I can have fun without spending money.  I mean spending money can be fun.  Very fun.

But.

Sometimes fun and free (or cheap) fits the mood.

Step right up if you want to watch me challenge myself with free or cheap activities that are actually fun for you or for a group.

And!  If you have any suggestions to add to the list, please let us know.

Walking Tours

The kind of walking tours Iā€™m suggesting donā€™t require leaving a tip.  Or even leaving the house.

YouTube has a number of great walking tours you can stream on your TV or device while youā€™re on your walking pad, treadmill, or in my case, on my rebounder.

Revisiting places Iā€™ve been bringing back memories via webcams is something Iā€™ve enjoyed, but a walking tour takes it to the next level.

There are also places Iā€™m interested in seeing but donā€™t really want to visit (read:  long plane ride or yucky food) so an online walking tour is perfect.

And this is absolutely FREE.

Audio Tours

There are a number of touring apps available when actually visiting an area using GPS.Ā  We have used GuideAlong which used to be known as GPSy.Ā  This app is especially useful when visiting remote areas with no cell access.Ā

The best audio tour we took was during our visit to Moab, Utah.

The latest audio tour we took was on the road to Hana.

On the app store youā€™ll see other options that might fit exactly what youā€™re looking for at a price you can stomach.

Movie Night

A movie night at home alone or in a small group is just the coziest.  Right?  Maybe sweats or PJs.  A bowl of popcorn.

Yes, please.

Everyone has their favorite streaming platform, but perusing the new movie shelf at the library has been a good resource for me.

Movies I might not spend money for at the theater but still want to see are always at the library.

Okay, for the record, Iā€™m not recommending spending an evening watching Fall Guy, but hanging out seeing it was still nice.

Games

Online games can be so addicting so I tend to stay away from most of them.  I do like doing online crossword puzzles.

When our family gets together, we love to play charades.

Ā Full disclosure, my sisters and I tend to have some sort of fam ESP and we win everything.Ā  The husbands start out perplexed and then get frustrated!

There are some good online word and phrase generators that allow you to use your device.Ā  We like to print words or phrases on pieces and paper, fold them up and randomly pick them.

I liked this phrase:  ā€œGrandpa is climbing a treeā€ from Play Charades.

Wrap Up

If you have plans to gather this weekend, maybe this will inspire you to find fun and free (or cheap activities) of your own.

As always, thank you for being here and God bless.
