Weekend Fun!

Yep, it’s that time of year in Arizona.  The time of year when each day becomes more packed than the day before.  That time of year when weekends start on Wednesday.  And when weekends are fun!

Here’s a recap of some of the fun we had and now why I’m detoxing and in recovery.  Ha!

Wednesday Last Minute Happy Hour

Our dear friends and neighbors Gary and Suzanne joined us for a glass of wine (euphemism for more than a bottle!) last minute Wednesday.  The weather was so perfect for the patio so we sat out and got caught up on the past few months.

I didn’t prep anything fancy just cheese and crackers and nuts.  Not even 15 minutes of prep time but a really great and fun evening.

Andrew Z Diamonds Party

Our local jewelry store always hosts the best parties.  While I’m not in the market for fru-fru jewelry, I love to support them.

I ended up getting the second cutest Kendra Scott necklace.  The first cutest is a tiny diamond cowboy boot.  That was a little pricey, but then!  I saw the second cutest!

It says HOWDY.  I have been wearing it non-stop.

Yep that’s what my neck really looks like.

Evon and Janis and I had a great time.  The only thing missing was our friend Jenny who was out of town.

Scottsdale Girls Lunch

Denisse met Barb, Evon and me for lunch in Scottsdale on Friday.  It was a fantastic time topped by  Denisse’s gift of homemade mandarin orange and prosecco jam.

I am going to whip up a batch of biscuits this week and enjoy that.  Well, hopefully my detox will be over by then.

Saturday Coffee

Several months ago I met a woman online with whom I really clicked.  The forum we met is international, but she happens to live in a nearby town.

We have really wanted to meet in person and Saturday we made that happen!  Wendy is my dear little sister in Christ.  Yes, she’s much taller than I, but much younger, hence I’m the BIG sister.  Which is exactly how it is with my biological sisters.

We shared smiles and stories and tears and some java.  I wish every morning started off so well.

The Rest of Saturday

Saturday was a triple booked day.  I rushed home from coffee and got John and we went to see our Lake Arrowhead friends, Jeff and Sue along with Tom and Mary Kay who are now wintering in Cave Creek.

We toured their new condo and hub gave bocce lessons on their new bocce lawn.  They all played so well!  It was chilly out so I sat in the sun and took pictures.

Black Mountain Café

In the same complex as Tom and Mary Kay’s condo is Black Mountain Café where Barb and Stu’s friend Mark and his band were performing.

Mark Edward plays locally and is so talented, fun and nice. This is the second time we have seen him play and can’t wait to go again.

We all walked to the restaurant and met up with the Anthem gang.  Dinner, drinks and entertainment were all perfect.

Sunday Stretch

If you’re a local, Soraya is one of our beloved fitness instructors and she has added a Sunday Stretch class to the schedule.

After a 40-minute rebounder workout I headed to the gym and attended the 45-minute stretch class.

It’s seriously the best (non)workout I do all week.  I would never in a million years spend 45 minutes stretching on my own.  It’s just torture.  But it’s so beneficial and made for a great beginning to a day of doing nothing more.

Wrap Up

Thanks for reliving my weekend with me.  I really need to reign in a bit this week but you know the saying, “Make hay while the sun shines.”  Yep, that’s what I’m doing.

God bless and let us know what kind of fun you’re having!
