Sacramento

This is a little travelogue of my crazy fun and crazy busy long weekend visiting my sister Monique in Sacramento.

And to be perfectly precise, while I flew into Sacramento, my sister lives in the town of Roseville. While I was working I had several hospital accounts in the area and have spent lots and lots of time there.

Honestly, if we didn’t love it so much here, that would be where I would want to live.

We were sad our sister Susie couldnā€™t join us, so we were texting pictures and everything we were doing and she was sending her Colorado weekend activities back to us.

Monique was a wonderful host ferrying me around town from one adventure to the next.

Club Time

My sister belongs to Lifetime Fitness right down the street from her house.Ā  The gym, pool, locker room, courts, everything is HUGE, clean and gorgeous.Ā  The people were all friendly and helpful ushering me in as a guest.

After a round of singles pickleball (we played pickleball twice during the weekend), we enjoyed the pool and hot tub.

Concert in the Park

We caught a fun concert by a really young group of guys singing songs from the 1950s.Ā  We danced and people watched while enjoying the perfect outdoor weather.

Nevada City

When hub and I lived in Reno we frequently visited Nevada City (which is not in Nevada, but in California).Ā  Monique and I made the hour-long trip north from her home and walked around the historic town for a short while.Ā

We then hit the Banner MountainĀ  Cascade Hiking trail right out of downtown. The hiking trail was completely shaded and the leaves are just starting to turn.

We stopped and had Mexican food for lunch in Grass Valley, another historic gold country town between Lake Tahoe and Sacramento.

Folsom Lake

This isnā€™t a great picture of the lake, but my sister lives only about 15 minutes from Folsom Lake and has a parks pass because she and her hub Pete use the lake and trails frequently.

So while the picture does the area no justice, itā€™s a great destination.

The weather was hot but the lake water was cool.  We were able to get in about to our waists.  There were people in the water fully submerged, but I wasnā€™t getting my head in that.  LOL.

Halloween Decorations

Moniqueā€™s neighborhood was out in full force decorating their yards for Halloween.  It was quite stunning, actually.

Iā€™ve never seen so many blow-up figures in one place.  And it was still September!

They sure have a creepy spirit there.

Wrap Up

This is just the tip of the iceberg.  We did so much and put in a lot of miles on our walking shoes.  We wore each other out with laughing and dancing and eating and drinking.

A great getaway.Ā  Now that Iā€™ve mooched off both sisters this late summer, I feel like itā€™s my turn to play tour guide and host the party from here.

I hope you had a great weekend too and a good week ahead.
