Chatting about this and that for October 2023 Potpourri before the month completely gets away from us.
Sedona
We took a quick trip to Sedona this week to enjoy the mountain views and perfect weather. The trees are barely starting to show some yellow, so itās more like late summer there right now.
Itās been a year since our Reno gang met us in Sedona and we lunched at Tlaquepaque. Such sweet memories.
Hub and I ate on the patio at one of the restaurants and roamed the grounds of Tlaquepaque. The fountains are decorated for fall and with the backdrop of stunning Arizona sycamores, there were visitors snapping photos everywhere.
Fun fact: Arizona sycamores are unique to our area and grow to 80ā tall. Besides their gorgeous smooth, white trunks, their wide star-shaped leaves, that height makes quite an impression as they tower above most things in our arid and semi-arid region.
I can see why people feel Sedona is such a magical place and it is credited with vortex energy.
One of the art galleries features bronze sculptures and I couldnāt resist getting a photo of the kitty on top of books. When art imitates life. At least for me!
Denisseās Patio Project
Denisse already had a lovely backyard, but she kicked it up a notch with a patio remodel. Her pets are going to love the gorgeous new pavers when they enjoy her yard.
It was a big job and a lot of work for her and her workers but the outcome is certainly worth it.
She sent before and after pictures and I made a little video of it to show you here.
Dance Classes
DF Cassandra hosted a Friday night Zumba party at our gym. I just love my favorite Zumba instructor!
She worked us so hard I had to take another shower and then was late to bed on a Friday night.
And!Ā Get ready for this.Ā I registered for a line dancing class at our local library.Ā The room was pretty jam packed with a lot of ladies (and one brave man) learning older dance steps and new ones that are hot in country music dance places.Ā
I want to say country bars, but I donāt think that is accurate. It seems these ladies dance in all sorts of venues and not just bars.
It was a lot of fun, but Iām not sure Iāll be investing in boots any time soon.
Here are some of the new dances in case you want to investigate for your own dancing pleasure:
- Mama Maria
- Good to Go
- All the Kingās Horses
- A Reason to Stay
Anthem Health & Wellness Club
For Phoenix locals, Dr. Luke Shillig will be offering tips on reversing diabetes. The meeting is at noon on Wednesday October 25th at the Anthem Civic Building. There is no fee, but registration is requested. Here is the link for more info.
What Iām Reading
On the New 14 Day shelf at the library I found The Sight by Melanie Golding. Itās a supernatural thriller and was released at the perfect time of year for me to get my creepy on.
Itās a pretty short book and a quick read to occupy a couple evenings if youāre interested. Nice twist at the end.
Creepy Artwork
Remember when we took our long road trip across the country and got to visit my niece and her little boys?
Well, Chandler, the oldest (heās now 8, 9?) is quite an artist. His mom, Alex, sent his drawing of Sally from Nightmare Before Christmas. Iām so impressed with his skills I had to brag and show you here. Believe me, he doesnāt get his artistic genes from me.
Wrap Up
You know what I love about my potpourri posts? Going through my pictures and reflecting on a few things that arenāt really earthshaking, but made my life a little more interesting or enjoyable.
Thank you for reading my blog and sharing my tiny corner of the world.
God bless you and yours for a wonderful weekend!
Yay! Such a fun post, and SO fun having you at the Zumba Dance Party last night =).
P.S. Scott and I LOVE Tlaquepaque. We have lunch in that little area and go shopping whenever we do Scottsdale.
That place is good for getting supercharged!
